KATHY...hi and glad you are feeling better...
BARB.. I understand what you are saying and many of us react the same way. AND KATHY is also correct. the gains you see are short term very annoing gains and you are mixing up your burning times so that is why there is a difference. As TAM said, she weighs 12 hours after her last meal and if you can do that you find a more regular pattern. We are not meant to eat just before going to bed and you are not metabolising and burning as well. That is the difference between between Kathy's loss... KATHY, when you are working and eating late, it is not the hour that eat but the time between eating and going to sleep that is the difference and why you may be losing more. I know that Jodi will have her last foods as late as 5am and also as soon as he gets home she HAS to eat something and then she pops to sleep often in only a couple of hours so she shows a gain..just not burning off the late foods. Some are more sensitive to this.
When I am up in the middle of the night I try not to have a thing. In the past weeks and this sumer with the pain I have had to have foods with the pain meds and I know that has confused and latered the way I metabolise as well. Our bodies are all so different and go through many changes within ourselves. We write books about this because of these things.
Too bad our bodies cannot read them!..
woke up with really upset tummy so and dizzy..back to bed.. see you all later and may the KLAQ be with us!

BRENDA.... add your lines when you C&P the entire posted thread.. always C&P THE LAST PERSON TO POST'S CHART, and after posting, go back and make sure no one beat your to the posting..it happens that we are on the same time...and please put that * after your weight lost number... FOR your CURRENT # put in yesterday's weight so you are on an even keel with us

CHRISSIE - No loss for me this morning either. WELCOME TO MY MABLE MOBILE.

CRICKET - Yesterday I bought my cottage cheese. I had 1/2 cup for a total of 3.5 carbs. It was a small amount to begin with and it did not effect my BS readings. I will begin my cottage cheese experiment today with a full cup mixed into my tuna/mayo. I will see if it causes the BS to go up too far. If so, then I will have to stick with 1/2 cup. It will bring my cals up a bit, but I will need to watch the proteins. I have leftover chicken legs, and can only have one. I will use enough butter and cream to keep the fats up as that is very important. I figure the cals will be around 1300 today. Not comfortable about adding too many carbs right now. I want to stick to the cottage cheese and see what happens. Thank you for your sage advice. As always!

I am busy again today, but I want to take time off to watch the Packers/Bears game at noon. Pregame starts in 2 hours, and I think we are all meeting up at the bar to watch this game. They always have food there (carby stuff for sure), and it is limited to cheese/sausage/pickles for me. I don't feel like packing on the sodium today so I am eating my cottage cheese/tuna/mayo before we go. I can drink a couple sodas while there and be happy. But I may have a couple slices of cheese. I will be sure to log this into my tracker and see where it lands me protein-wise. I may need to cut back on the chicken tonight.

I hope we all have a great start to this new game! And I hope we are ALL biggest losers this week!!!! I will stop back later today to see how we are all faring, so GOOD LUCK!

I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY HOPE I CAN LOSE AT LEAST 1 LB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PAULETTE>>> sounds like a good plan. Keep the fats in proportion is the only big deal usually but you are also considering that BS which is a buggerboo for sure. Add the carbs. You have been way low on them. It is not a concern..really! As long as you are in ketoisis you are burning fats and THAT is the intention behind this entire plan You already know that deep purple is nice but it does not indicate everything going on. Someplace in you, there is a switch that need to be turned back on. YES.. the fat IS coming off but it is also possible to be emitting the ketones from the fats you are eating and you are at a standoff. Not really burning old fats just the new intake of them..so time to change it up. I lost 190# and never was more than a trace on the strips. It is an indicator and tool. Go as high as 15 for sure.Especially since they are the true total carbs...at least that is my advice to the gal who I KNOW is not off plan!

CHRISSIE... you and that Mabel Mobile! I think the title is going to be put in your name! Feel better soon!

Tonight is ROSH HASHANAH which is the Jewish New Year, so I will wish you all a very blessed L"SHANA TOVA...Happy New Year.

I just am having a fist full of bacon and a cup of tea with HC that I did not measure. Guess it is the usual 2 oz glub. Tuna & mayo with green onions for lunch and a lot of mayo so I may drain some water from the can. I will have HB eggs for dinner with mayo. The carbs will be from the sf relish and scallions.Yes, there are carbs in HC and eggs and not counting those now. Not going to drive myself nuts until I have to. Curious as to how this will work.
GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!

Hope everyone's scale plays nice! Have a great day!

CHRISSIE - you are right, I am not putting a at 166 lbs. I only put it there because it is 1 lb MORE than the previous total.

TAM - I think I FORGOT to congratulate you on winning the last game! So Sorry! These cheers are for you And extra congrats on losing yet another lb !!!! I was just depressed yesterday, and too busy, and too self-pitying! I apologize. Thank you for your encouragement.

CRICKET - Congrats on your 1.4 loss! You predicted lots of losses, and you are on the straight path. I don't want to go up to 15 carbs as that would entail adding icky veggies, which I have no desire to eat. I just ate my 7 carbs worth of cottage cheese, and I will test my blood in about 1/2 hr to see the damages. I sure hope it does not look high as I really enjoyed my new food!

We decided NOT to go to the game at the bar. That is fine with me. I can keep the cheese temptation at bay. I will have my chicken leg (fried in butter) to re-crisp the skin. And I plugged my foods into the tracker revealing a nearly perfect score:

CALS - 1251
FAT - 98g (71%)
PROTEIN - 82g (26%)
CARBS - 8g (3%) The extra carb is from my cream. Must wear the carb glasses for every carb. They add up.

So my fat% is in a good range and my protein is also in range, but I should really keep protein around 75g. The big chicken leg brought it up a little, but tomorrow it will be less. All in all, I am happy my macros are in range, and my ketosis should not be compromised whatsoever. I will test urine later tonight to be sure, but I am always in ketosis and I don't have any worries.

Interesting that you suggested I may be only burning my dietary fat intake rather than bodily fat storage. I read a couple articles on that subject that claimed this is not possible when keto-adapted, and that your body simply passes the unused dietary fat through urination/defication. But I seem to differ on that opinion. If I was continuing to burn fat, I would be much lower in weight and smaller in inches, which I am not. And I find it hard to believe that after 4 months of continued fat loss from my body, that I would retain all of that weight in water. If that were the case I would be a puffy blown-up water balloon, and I don't feel like I am. I am just plain old not losing anything. So the burning dietary fat theory you suggested sounds very plausible and believable in my case.

Well, as I am always happy to do experiments with myself, I am curious to see if this new change in food has any effect weight loss-wise. It is scary for me and I am afraid it will effect me negatively, but I will not know that unless I try. I have to keep in mind that if I continue to remain the same weight, I should not blame it on the cottage cheese addition, but see it as a continuation of my strange stall. If, on the other hand, I start to see an ominous gain, I will highly suspect the new food. But if I start seeing LOSSES again, it MAY be that the new food may have had something to do with it...Then again it could all be coincidence.

Enough rambling. I must get to work. I can listen to the Packer game in the background. Have a nice day all!

No problem Paulette. I'm just so proud of you for sticking to it. Something will change, no doubt, even if it is just more enjoyment.

Cricket: Congrats on all of Jodi and Beckham's wins, and the weight coming down.

fast response..not ignoring anyone...PAULETTE... I disagree with that article as well. By the sheer intake of dietary fats we can change the color of the ketone strips. I have experimneted with that for years. Have high fats and in about 30-60 minutes you can see color changes. Usually in the morning ans as noted by Atkins' himself, the results are less that in the evening.Reason is simple..we have used up the dietary fats over night and by morning they are dpeleted..and yes, you guessed it, the intake during the day raises the color as he states you will get a nice purple in the evening..to paraphrase. I have no interest in looking for the exact quote. So, you are living proof as we alll are! NOW my friends.. veggies are not the only t hings with carbs! Have strawberries or blueberries... look for some lower glycemic fruits, or have a small bit of regualr fruit like half a small apple. You can in corporate fruits by now as well as nuts.Almonds are good and will fill that need.. or walnuts, pecans cashews whatever.Just a few to raise the carbs and chnage your diet.

Positive attitudes and a sense of humor is a big help.

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!.....NASA (and US!)
WE DO NOT FAIL BECAUSE WE KEEP TRYING, AND THAT IS BECAUSE
IT IS NOT THE HAND YOU WERE DEALT BUT THE WAY YOU PLAY THAT HAND THAT COUNTS!
We have learned and keep learning how our bodies adjust to the ever changing dynamics of life. We follow the Philosophies set forth by DR ATKINS in DANDR..1972 or 1992 versions.
It does not get easier as we get to goal and we accept that we will keep trying and not give in to old habits. We move forward, even if we take steps backward, we strive for success.

WE ARE THE A-TEAM!

BRENDA - Congrats on the lb down!!

I checked my blood sugars after eating and it was low. Only 78. I am not sure if that was an insulin response from the cottage cheese lactose, but it was pretty low. Hmmm. I have to keep track of this now that I am eating some carbs. I need to check the BS before eating, then after for a while to see what the pattern is.

I am running to check the ketone levels now......

Still very dark purple. I will need to check this for the next few days as I think it is too early to see any difference this soon after my Lactose carb excursion. But so far so good!!!!

CRICKET - Happy ROSH HASHANAH! Thank you for the suggestions. I forgot all about nuts. Sheesh! Fruit I don't care for, but almonds could be a possibility. The problem with nuts is portion control for me. I have found that I can not eat only a small handful. They are addictive and I want the whole freaking bag/jar/box/whatever. Like a bowl of popcorn, I can eat them non-stop. I am afraid to bring them in the house for that reason. I do not want to go back to my old ways of over-eating. But if I can take a 1-serving pack in my purse next time I am out and about, I just may do that. If they start my cravings, I will nix them for good!

HIMI & BARB - I am anxious to see how you did today! I hope I can log back on later to find out before I go to bed. If not, I will certainly comment in the morning! Good luck!!!
