Today is SUNDAY August 30th day ONE of the 5 lb challenge It is OPEN TO ANYONE THAT FOLLOWS DANDR..1972 or 1992

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!.....NASA (and US!)

WE DO NOT FAIL BECAUSE WE KEEP TRYING!

We have learned and keep learning how our bodies adjust to the ever changing dynamics of life. We follow the Philosophies set forth by DR ATKINS in DANDR..1972 or 1992 versions.

It does not get easier as we get to goal and we accept that we will keep trying and not give in to old habits. We move forward, even if we take steps backward, we strive for success. Positive attitudes and a sense of humor is a big help.

Still no change for me.

BARB - I think the stick was so dark purple because I ate a very large % of my calories from fat yesterday. It was 88%. And I did that because I had too many carbs on Saturday. Cals were low and fat was high to boost the keto levels. Normally my sticks are of a medium grade purple. Now I don't know if that meant I was burning body fat, or if the ketones were thrown off from the fat I ate, but it was a nice sight to see. I am having a bit more protein today, so I hope the color stays dark. I always try to have at least a 70% fat ratio.

HIMI - oh, I hope you see a loss today. You must be recovered from the episode you had the other day. Go Himi Go!!!!

CHRISSIE - I hope your weekend party was fun and you stuck to your plan!

CRICKET - so what's on your menu today? Ditching the vegetables must be a welcome relief!!! I am planning on having baked cod loins with homemade tartar sauce! And possibly tun/mayo again later. I have been eating tuna/mayo (with a lot of mayo!) quite a bit lately and I 'spose I will get sick of it soon! The mayo jar is emptying fast!

Time to get to work now. It is good to be home, but I don't want to work. It will be warm and sunny all week so I want to float in my pool! You all have a great day!

hello my fat burning friends TY for doing the chart PAULETTIE...wow that is OPURPLE!..I never get that color.any shade of pik is good to me.You are right that all that fat did interact and your body dumped it so the ketones were pretty high.I can give my selfe a mental boost by haviong fatty food and testing 30 mins later! I use the first pee to test which is the least active for testing.even Atkin's recommended doing it at NIGHT to get the best results. I want to see what I am doing at the least active time.It willonly get beter..not at all hungry at 9 am and will have double tuna tund w/ mayo and cleery w/ cream cheese for snack and stalk in the salad of fish i AM SO HAPPY TO BE BACK ONNORMAL PLAN.sORRY FOR THE TYOPS.. BEST i CAN MANAGE IT SEEMS. hAD TO HAVE ONE OXICODONE LAST NIGHT. opps oncaps again.it may be hard to imagine, but I am looking at the keys as I type and it is still this bad OY Happy floating in between working!..I am making Jodi's bacon today and did her drumsticks yesterday. No vegggies is doing well for her. she has may for a dip with her pork rinds and the thought gagas me BLECH!
I did not have enough fat yesterday.very little so today I HAVE to up it.
BARB... exercise is great if you like it and of course it is good to do. Swimming is the one of choice for me and now in the cold climate it is not possible.the indoor pool classes are frigid water and I refuce to buy a wet suit so I can tolerate the temp. your hubby is right though. He would be rolling his eyes at this.. I am only doing the exercises that do not cause a lot of pain. I see daily imporvement and been trying to do noraml functions as much as possible but the wall waling and arm stretch upwards in NOT h appeneing at this time. It is a tad better. When I force it all I get is pain and inflammation..so letting it heal and go like this until I see the ortho on the 9th. I will pay the rehab fee $$$$$ for one time for evealuation if needed to see how it is progressing. Look.. I am 69 and this houlder bicep tendon was shredded so it will take some time I guess???
HIMI>>> I know you are back on target with us all and ave out end of summer head back on straight. Now we need to focus on the fact that holidays are coming so we need to be 100% on track. We will have enough issues when the holiday parties get here in a few months! I plan to plan for them far in advance. I will make my foods and have desserts that are enjuoyablle..not doing the breads again for certain! i MUST REMAIN GLUTEN FREE and that works for all of us.
KATHY... hope you are haveing your beauty rest after your weekend work Hi to you Mom for me.
FYI>> I DID e-mail Lisa about 10 days ago and have not heard from her. I am sorry to not see her return here.
I weighed in before with thermal long johns bottoms, a heavy long sleep shirt, hospital socks, and soft polo under the sleep wear..( AC is full steam ahead all night) and I showed a loss, so I WILL reweigh when stripped and not wearing all that and my watch and ring! TODAY I watch the Jazz Singer. I WISH they had it on video but looks like they never made it to that format. I will go into mourning when this OOLD tape becomes unusable.
SO, my friends, I do hope all have a wonderful MOnday. It is the start of all wonderful possibilities. It is all in our hands... that motto prevails and I MAY incorporate it in the next game heading...IT IS NOT THE HAND YOU WERE DEALT BUT HOW YOU PLAYED IT>>>> now if that is not a good attitude for us.. well.. do not know what IS!

Had a hungry night at work. Luckily I had on plan foods on hand just way too many calories.

Paulette hope you're having a nice ride in the mable mobile and that you get to float in your pool today at least for a few minutes. I'm so jealous of your dark purple strips. I've never personally seen that color...that's why I bought the blood ketone meter to measure with.

Himi I look forward to seeing some filly pics

Barb I hope you at least got in a walk today

Jodi you're brave with that mayo "dip" makes me wanna gag too...my mom does a ketchup/mayo dip sometimes so probably not too bad

Cricket I think your klaq is getting better at least for you haha...I can smell the bacon mmmm

Have a nice Monday evening ladies

Welcome Tam!

No change again today. I dont think i have gone 3 days with such a small/no change before, but hey its not a gain! We will see though after tonight-- we had a multi-family potluck for a student meeting for my daughter -- I ate "safe stuff" before going so I was not hungry, but once there I tried the pulled pork and also some squash, and had a plain salad-- didnt finish the pork, obviously had sugar-- squash seemed OK but since I am not 100% sure of the ingredients I may have had some carbage I wasnt planning on. Calories for the day were good though. I know I was in ketosis prior, I will test again tomorrow morning and see if there were any damages! I was not as purple as YOU though Paulette! You Go!

Hmmm, Cricket, Jodi, I am not sure I would like plain mayo for pork rinds... but maybe cut with some sour cream, and with some smoked paprika and chipotle hot sauce mixed in....

Barb -- "PT" husband-- PT as in Physical Therapy?

Karthy no new pics of the filly today-- forgot to take the camera out. But I had a nice grooming session with her and put her halter on and took it off several times to desensitize her to that, and she sure seems to be gaining and blooming every day, compared to just a few days ago when I though she was looking a little weedy.

hi and happy you found us! now if I ay add to just please C&P and not use QUOTE..WE ALL have had STUFF to do when we learned this game
If you check those total dates, you will see how long and far some have gone here.We have had lots come and go and I HOPE you stay being a '72'er will be great! I did that one and then kind of went towards the 92 where I pretty much stay although I DO blend those two. WE weigh daily to learn about how our bodies lose and gain, and how we react to some foods etc. There is a link tha PAULETTE brought to us that we use.. KETOCALCULATOR that takes the guesses out of the amounts of foods to have. YOU will do so much better when you figure what you need!
UPDATE ON MUTTS: BEAR IS HURTING ONE AREA IN PARTICULAR JUST ABOVE HER LEG BELOW THE BACK..FLESHY AND MUST HAVE GOTTEN A GOOD PINCH.sHE IS SUCH A SWEET LITTLE GIRL AND NOT A MEAN BONE IN HER BODY.sHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO BITE..00ps on the caps again.. at anyrate. BABY is acting oddly with her. I am not 100 % sure she will not take advantage now that she knows Bear is low guy around here. If I could only find a home for Lexus. she is wonderful but cannot be trusted withsmaller dogs at all.
watching PENN & TELLER.. love magic. My dad and his brother were members of a magic club back in when they had those. It was nin NYC..the magicians would get together and do new acts for each other. My dad was the best at making $$ dissappear!
SO, Carl is mowing at 7:30Pm.. He knows how much I do around here but NOW he has for the first time had to do the bulk of the land work.
That's it from ALABAMA my friends have a great night

HIMI..we doubled Missed you.. that salad could be a problem if anything goes wrong. You have been on such a whirlwind sched/life that the numbers will fall away! Thhe clothes will be the best test! I LOVE the babies and you had me thinkng about breeding Cookie...if I could count on training the baby I would, but that is years away so we will see. She is so well bred! I have to realize I am getting OLDER

I really hope to be at Beckham's first show next week. It is a longer drive than I would like ( 90 mins) so the arm will have to get better FAST!at least it is that long if I do the speed limit LOL! She is already talking about the details for putting together a musical kur freestyle for him to compete with next year.

NOW to get under the AC! see ya TUESDAY!

Hi Paulette, I'm looking forward to it. The only thing I'm a little concerned with is weighing daily. I finally weaned myself from being so scale obsessed, praying it won't happen again. I go a lil nutso.

Hi Cricket, I promise to cut and paste, sorry about that. And yes I found everything. Looking forward to weighing tomorrow. Haven't weighed since last Monday (I was just doing the weekly weigh in). So now I have to make sure the umbilical cord to the scale doesn't become attached to my emotions.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!!

Welcome Tam! I think you'll find this "team" very helpful in your weight loss journey and very rewarding. We have periods of time when we are all doing really well and times when we struggle, which is just a part of life and any weight loss program. When one of us struggles, we all try to encourage each other to get them through the slump.

I read your profile and we have a lot in common. I'm about 4 years older than you, am happily married for 37 years and have three grown boys. We would love to live in Myrtle Beach, but I have my parents, sisters, 2 of my boys and 2 small grandchildren here in PA and a job that would be difficult to leave. We go there 2-3 times per year and my husband has done a couple of travel positions in Conway/Myrtle Beach and Sumter during the winter. We are headed there for bike week at the end of September.

Cricket: Great going on the loss. I am up today with Jodi, but sitting here typing, I can feel that my fingers are fat so I must have some fluid retention from something. Had some bacon yesterday, and as much as I LOVE it, I always swell when I eat it.

So sorry to hear about your dog fight! Hopefully, Bear is not hurting too badly. You can both sympathize with each other since you have similar injuries.

Hoping you can make it to Beckman's show this weekend. It would do you good to get out if you can handle it.

Himi: Yes, my husband is a physical therapist. It probably sounded like he was my "part time (PT)" husband. Although, we have joked that he is also a part time husband since he has worked as a travel therapist off and on over the years and worked in different states for 13 weeks at a time. He's the type who doesn't like to stay at one job very long and can't imagine how I've been at the same job for over 31 years.

Kathy: Good for you for staying in range. I haven't walked yet today and am not sure if I will drag myself downstairs or not. I wanted to do it this morning before I went to work and was in the car before I even thought about it. Bob works late on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so he didn't get home until 8:00 so by the time I made supper, ate and did the dishes, I lost my energy. I'm definitely going to do it in the morning.

Paulette: At least you're maintaining and not gaining! We must have the same weather patterns as it was one of the hottest days of the summer today and the rest of the week is supposed to be the same. We do not have AC in the schools and the kids go back tomorrow. We've had cool weather all summer (70's) and then when the kids have to go back to school, we're now in the high 80's/low 90's. I hope you get some pool time in before you have to put it away!

Hopefully tomorrow is a better day for us all! Cricket, you did really well today and I'm hoping the losses continue! Also, you are right in that the holidays will be here soon enough and if we don't get a handle on this now, we will really struggle through the holidays. That's when I gave up two years ago and I am determined that it won't happen again. There isn't any food that is worth gaining all that weight back and feeling like crap again!

Tam: I can totally relate to the scale obsession and how it affected my emotions. In fact several years ago, I went into the bathroom to weigh and the scale was gone...my husband hid it from me. Eventually, I bought a new and improved scale..never did find the old one. However, over the years, I have learned to accept the daily fluctuations. They are normal, even if a gain happens for no reason. In fact, years ago when I would eat due to being frustrated with a gain, I would get on the scale the next day to see a loss. I would often wonder what the loss would have been had I not gone off plan. Also, when I see a gain or no change over a period of several days, I can attribute it to my food choices and/or carb creep. Therefore, I find that it keeps me honest. Also, when tracking your daily losses, you can sometimes see the patterns of your losses and gains and the fluctuations are easier to accept.

I also track my daily weigh-ins on the Daily Weigh In thread so that I can easily see the progression with the losses. Even if you don't see progress over a period of a couple of days, you can see it relative to a longer time frame.

Again, good luck and I hope this WOL works for you!
