Just checking back in as I am usually trying to get to work in the morning and in a hurry when I post.
Oma: At least you seem to be fluctuating between 159 and 161 so you are doing well with maintaining your loss. I think I hit 159 around 10 years ago (for a day), but never got below it and did not maintain my loss. Even though I'm losing pretty steadily now, I expect a major slow down when I get into the 160's/150's. I've been at this higher weight for so many years, that I know my body will fight going lower. If I remember correctly, I think we are both somewhat vertically challenged....I'm 5'3'' so I know I should be able to get in the 140's, but I'm anticipating that it won't happen quickly. Great job in maintaining your weight, especially through the summer months when it seems like it's harder for me to lose due to all the picnics, vacations and other events.
Bev: I miss talking to you. However, I've been reading your posts and your encouragement to others on these sites. You are doing great and you are totally correct when you say that a slow loss is better. Someone who loses at a slower pace has a better chance of keeping it off. You seem to stay pretty consistent with your weight for sometimes days/weeks, but once you move down, you seem to stay there...and overall, that is what you want to see. When those pounds are finally gone, you want them gone forever!
HotHunt: You are doing great...and don't get discouraged when the weight doesn't seem to be moving. I seem to sometimes lose in spurts where I'll have consistent losses and then it will take me weeks or even a month to lose a couple of pounds. Then I'll start to lose again. Sometimes, I think my body just needs a little time to adjust and get used to the changes. And, sometimes, it's because I need to adjust something in my eating or I've started to get a little complacent with my carb count.
I was 217 when I started in March, lost about 20 lbs by early May and then only lost maybe 2-3 lbs in May. Part of it was due to traveling and the fact that I knew I wasn't being consistent in my eating and allowed some carb creep. However, I got back on it and started induction again which helped to get me moving again. As Bev stated, even when the scale's not moving, you are often losing inches without really realizing it. You will soon step on that scale and have a whoosh of a weight loss and it will be so worth it that you stayed on plan.
Toddy: Your have to have the patience of Job!! You are right on the edge of onederland, but can't seem to get there. Are you sure your scale is working? LOL It almost seems like a cruel joke! I live in groundhog country and it seems similar to the groundhog movie where every day you wake up, you see the same number over and over on the scale. However, you are not giving up and that is the important thing. Your patience will pay off one of these days!
Sunny: One of these days, this WOE will just seem to click for you and you will see the losses. When I go off plan, it will sometimes take me months or even years to get back on it. I was one who constantly thought about food and where, when and what I was going to eat next. If I really stick to eating LC for a week or more, the cravings are gone and the weight is too. I may have something off plan periodically and it doesn't usually affect me to bad. However, if I start eating non-plan foods more often, too many days in a row, then I can easily get off plan and it is difficult to get started again. With this WOE, I don't feel the addiction to food that I previously had. I'm not saying that I don't watch someone eating something and wish that I could eat it, but I don't think about it constantly like I used to. I feel so much better on this WOL and I know I don't want to go back to feeling like I did before LC. Hoping you see some good losses soon and you will see the benefits of this WOL.
Renee: Great loss this week! 4 lbs lost. Wow! Those new lows really give you incentive to keep on going.
Louise: You've also had a good start to the month. Great job! Keep plugging away!
Iceberg: It looks like you're in a little bit of an adjustment period. However, you'll start to lose again soon and the weight will start to "melt" away.
Dgost: Keep at it and don't get discouraged. It's amazing what the scale and that little number does to us and our minds! It would be interesting to hear what everyone is thinking before they step on the scale and they're waiting for that number to settle at it's final resting place.
Msalicia: Welcome and I hope you get back down to your goal weight. You've done pretty well maintaining but you know where you are most comfortable. You'll get there soon!
Hope everyone moves downward tomorrow. I apologize that I haven't been real active other than to plug my weights in. I've been spending a lot of hours at work and when not working, I'm trying to enjoy what I can of what's left of the summer. Since it finally decided to quit raining after about 2 months of rain every day, I can finally enjoy some outside activities! I'll try to do better with keeping up with everyone.
