Cool hello from tennessee

hi ladies!!
bus ride was wretched.......too many hours in the same chair, and the bus was packed so i was very uncomfortable not being able to sit by myself. sleeping really wasn't much of an option good thing my family is worth it!!! i got to my sisters 5am yesterday morning and we have been going ever since. it is so great so see everybody, and we are spending lots of quality time together.
PAULETTE......congrats on winning the last game! you are such an inspiration
lol......i love your comment about "fat paulette in a cage". i'm gonna use that! whenever i don't like what she is saying, i'm gonna say "shut up fat chrissie!!!
congrats on your all-time lowest weight too! you should be so proud of all you have accomplished
CRICKET.........i love your accountability, and glad you are right back on the horse (named cookie )
ALL....i did read as much s i could, but don't want to spend too much time on this gadget. all of you seem to be doing great.....so YAY you guys
just so y'all know.......i love ALL animals. deer are beautiful creatures, and not cows. perhaps if all the humans would stop taking away their land, maybe they would be less of a problem.......just sayin'
i do not hunt, but if you hunt to eat then good......trophy hunting SUCKS
my meat needs to come from the grocery store.....without a face. i could never kill anything......unless someone's life was in danger......and THAT would depend on who the someone was

if this works it is BECKHAM .. I think his show name is going to be "ISN"T HE AMAZING" he tries and gets better every day.

PAULETTE... an OWL?? had not thought of that.WE have lots of them.Guess I hope the birds stay in at night! Maybe I will get one of those predator lights..I sure do not want to use the birds for meat. I would end up givin them to the neighbor that had the chickens. They are quite poor.

HIMI.. you will get there my friend!

CHRISSIE..great to see your post and to hear you are having fun! This is quite a nice long vacay and so involved!!! Traveling to the hottest part of FL..well.. hope it is not as hot as here!
Enjoy!!

Hi. had a decision to make that is never easy. I had not heard from Sunny since her last post to inform the team that she again was going to be away.
Considering the post that everyone read about support and team philosophy I cannot invie her back to the team should we even hear from her at some point. I am sadded about this since she had been a long term member that left and returned.
I hope that you all understand and support this.

Now heading off to see if i can get other pics uploaded to tiny pic.
Have a good evening and hope we have lots of good visit time with Miss WHooshie and her eveil twim MZ MUSHIE stays home!

Glad I posted this morning as I didn't get home until almost 8:30 tonight. This should be the last late night. No where near caught up but will try to get it done during normal hours.

I lost my first post so I'm trying this again. Still don't have my old computer back yet and the touch screen on this new one drives me crazy!

CRICKET: What a beautiful creature Beckham is! So happy that JODI is enjoying him and that he seems to be training really well. Glad to see both you and JODI had a loss. She's just proven that she can do it when she wants to. She sounds a lot like me. When I'm off plan, I'm really off, and sometimes, mentally, I'll think to myself that I'll never be able to get back on it. But then something clicks, the cravings are gone and the weight starts coming off again.

You mentioned that it must be nice having a PT for a husband! Did you ever hear of the plumber with leaky pipes??? He hates doing massages and, sometimes, I have to beg him to work on me when I have muscle or back pain. When he worked at the hospital and I was having shoulder/back pain, I threatened to go ask one of his co-workers for a treatment...until he finally agreed to work on me. Actually, he's really a great guy and husband. I guess by the end of the day, he's just tired of working on people. You mentioned doing your own PT. That is actually a great thing. To see improvement, most people, once shown, just need to do their exercises and they can easily be done at home if they are disciplined enough to do them.

Loved the turkey story, but they scare me! When walking one day and seeing two of them on the road, I tried to avoid them and went to the far opposite side of he road. They came running after me. I started running and they ran faster and started flying into me. Fortunately, I was by one of the few houses in our wooded neighborhood and my neighbor saw me running down the road with two turkeys hot on my heels and sent her dog out to scare them away. I guess they were once wild turkey that had been somewhat tamed. After that, my treadmill in the basement looked pretty good!

HIMI: You are right about the "set point". Mine is usually at 180, which is my current weight. In the past few years, I've been in the 160's, but I always seem to struggle getting past 180. Down today and hoping it sticks.

CHRISSIE: Glad to hear from you! I can relate to the bus trip. A few years ago, my husband was working a traveling assignment in Myrtle Beach SC. I really don't enjoy flying and thought about taking the bus or train and decided on the bus. I booked it and had several connecting buses. It's a 12 hour trip for us in the car, but my bus trip took 27 hours! Also while catching bus 3 of 5, they told me I didn't have a reserved seat and they would most likely be full. (This was in Baltimore or DC...some big scary city.) Luckily I got on them all, but it was the longest, most uncomfortable ride I ever had along with sitting in bus stations for hours at a time. I was afraid to go to sleep because I had my belongings with me. Needless to say, I flew home!

PAULETTE: I wish I could join you in the pool. Our temps and humidity were back down today, so the summer hasn't been that bad, but I love the water and rarely get to go swimming. I find the water so relaxing....and could really use that right now.

Looks like we all on our way to meeting our goals. The real test will be whether we can keep it off.

Good luck everyone and will check back in morning!

Hi BARB~~ have to laugh at the plumber comment..so true. It's old news for the oldies here but I have 2 plated inmy nect.. my left arm was paralyzed to the point of 2-3 degree movement and told it would never get better.I was not even geiven rehab as an option but I NEVER SAY NEVER. Spoke with the rehab team that was at my facility and was shown exercises..I did them and more. placed my hand on the sterring wheel and grabbed on so the wheel motion moved he arm etc. 5 months later I began to get movement back. now my 'bad' arm is the good one.Ironic. Chased by turkeys..OMG! must have been near their nest. Are you sure they were not geese??Hate those miserable beasts! Wild turkey are very territorial and get rather large so I would not want to be you either.
I had a train ride from hell once but never did a bus ride. I enjoy driving.Used to pop back and forth to S.Fl all the time.just an 8 hr drive though. As long as i have detailed instructions with mile markers etc and a good GPS I am fine.Otherwise i cannot fing my way off a circle! True. The main road here where all the shopping etc is located is the famous Ross Clark Circle. When i first drove on it, I went around 3 times! Eventually the same stores gave me a hint..it is about 15 miles around!
You can break through the set points. It takes determination and that you have.It is such a wonderful feeling when we do that! It is like winning a big contest.and it is.
Sorry about your posts. That really stinks when that happens.I used to be able to find them again by going to the back page arrow but that has not worked lately.
Jodi can lose each time and her mind set is good. She gets to apoint where she really wants to induldge and that takes over. Then she gets right back on track.each time. She needs to stay on track longer. She began this before the show season began and once life levels out regarding that she will be fine. Her schedule is so odd.I do not know how KATHY works it but Jodi's work nights run into the days and if she has off the following night all her meals jus run together which is why her weigh ins are so off.She ends up weighing in in the afternoons but after she has had breakfast and a meal.
Going to MAYBE ride again tmorrow since Carl can saddle up for me in the morning..
have a great night and morning!
XO

POOP!!!! I am up 1 lb today. I have to admit I have been heavy handed with the salt yesterday. I used regular seasoning salt on my chicken legs yesterday and I am not used to it, so I used too much. It was delicious though! Today I am going to take it easy on the salt and eat bland foods. I am out of water flavorings, and I am considering buying some SF lemonade flavor. I have some Walden Farms Strawberry syrup, and I want to make strawberry lemonade! Sounds so refreshing! That is what I am going to do. I think tuna/mayo and pork chops will be on the menu. And I will be light on the Lite salt. I hope this plan knocks that excess water off.

CRICKET - Beckham is absolutely gorgeous! I am glad JODI found a horse she feels comfortable with. I hope he exceeds all her expectations!

BARB - I hope you get caught up with work and get time for a rest. I know that MALE turkeys are very mean when they are adult! I had one as a pet, and he guarded his female like a MARINE! When I would walk in the pen to feed the flock in the morning, I had to keep a rake at the front gate - I used it to push the turkey away so he did not jump at me and tear my legs open with his spurs!!! Once I was carrying a bag of feed in the pen and he jumped at it and tore it open! Feed was pouring out from the gashes he made!!!! YES. They can get very mean!!!! The female was never mean - just the male. And I had raised him as a pet from a chick! He used to like to stand on my hand, and he would hang out with us all the time, sitting on our back porch and pooping on it. But once he grew to full adulthood he got very protective. Beware the turkeys! Always good advice.

LISA - I hope you're doing well and the weight loss is continuing!

CHRISSIE - Nice to see you! Sorry about the miserable bus ride. They are pretty bad, I agree. But I hope you are where you want to be now and relaxing in the sun, getting a good tan. When are you coming back? Remember to keep Fat Chrissie locked deep in her cage and cover it with a thick blanket!!!

HIMI - I hope today you can see a nice loss, break that 70 lbs lost mark and continue down to a new point! I seem to be on a set point right now, too. These past couple months I have been floating up & down around the same numbers, not really going anywhere. I AM a tad below the previous lowest low, so that is great! But that point was reached early last month, and I REALLY want to go beyond that! So I understand the frustration of set points. Bodies seem to do what THEY see fit. You can only tweak and change things up so much - and it may or may not change things at all! I have learned to just sit and be patient. The body will respond when it darn well feels like it! Last year I was hoping to be in ONDERLAND by this time, but that looks like it will not happen this summer. Hopefully in the fall, and very hopefully before my birthday. I hope! The way I am going now, you may even beat me there!!!!!

Up .5 today, but had a pretty big loss yesterday, so this wasn't unexpected. I'm just glad I'm still in the 170's.

CRICKET: Just listening to the weather forecast and it doesn't seem like you'll be getting a break from the heat. It's been in the high 70's here during the day but was 48 here at 6 AM this morning according to our local news. Not like our typical summers, but I guess it's good sleeping weather.

So sorry to hear about your previous issues with your arm. Based on your past experiences, it seems like you're committed to do whatever it takes to get back to normal usage. Most people don't do that.

My attackers were definitely turkeys and were full, large adults. I think they had been hanging out in my "rescuers" yard for a few weeks and they were feeding them. When I saw her a short time later, she said I wouldn't be seeing them again

PAULETTE: Don't worry about the gain. I'm sure it's the salt or the fact that you've had pretty consistent losses for awhile and your body is just adjusting.

Hope everyone has a good day today and I'll check back later.

Good Morning
PAULETTE~~ I starred your line even if you didn't want to I know you use salt and that's what we get! I don't mind the taste of postassium salt anymore.I never use the real stuff for myself.
WOW on your TOM TURKEY! I had not one Tom in the 2 dz I had so I guess I was really lucky! I have to ask you since you are now the OFFICIAL POULTRY QUEEN ..do I really NEED to have a rooster? I do not want to have fertilized eggs, and frankly, I can do without the crowing. If I needed one then I may just change my mind about having them...I really am not wild about the loud males!
BECKHAM has already exceeded her expectations . Jodi is in awe of his natural ability and more so his desire to please . That is what she with Bubba and the others she has clicked with. They have an instant friendship like people get. Maybe that is the easiest way to describe it. He already trusts her to try things that are foriegn to him .. like her home competition trail course with flags, barrels, bridges and scary tarps ..yes he is nervous about them but will trust her and do what she has asked . That is the key.He is another Bubba or at least as close as it gets . He has a show sept.12th and i cannot wait to go and see him there at his debut!

BARB~~ we've lived here for 9 years and this is the weather here . Not unusual in my book .The cooling off after the daily wind storm/T-storms is nice .The miserable gnats are not .It is hotter than SO.FL here and a lot colder in the winter.I miss SO fll weather but not the hurricaines! Tornados might be scary but there is less of a risk with them and the thing is over and done with fast. You are lucky with your weather.I did like the mountains in the summer and fall. Not so much the winter
Farrier came last evening and the biting flys and insects were incessant. Glad Cookie only needed a fast trim and go over.. this man is so talented and so fast and excellent! Best I have had since I had the park saddle horses with hand made shoes in the 80's. so it was 10 minutes and done if that long . Around here the good farriers or the bad seem to take 40 minutes to trim a horse and some more.SHoes can go an hour with some talkative typest .AND you could still get a bad job . With Britt, 100% fab all the time ! For those that are not into horses... the hoof grows like our nails. The sole on some horses is naturally tender ( COOKIE) the hoof hoof needs to be done so that the heel is supportive of the back area of the leg.and not cut too low.. If it is too low the back is being sretched and you get a really big problem.. the angles of the hoof.. the toe/back.. is critical on some horses (again Cookie)..when he gets done with his 10 minute job, her angles are perfect for her. YEs, they are measurable. She is 56 degree for her max.. can be 54-56. So that is the hoof lesson in easy terms. He comes every 6 weeks for some and every 4 for others depends on the horse's need.

SORRY I got into that!!!
BARB... "most people" never do anything they should!I hope I am not like MOST PEOPLE! I have a feeling that you are not either

I had a nice 1.6 loss today and now back where I was before i went off the rails! Today I will have the chicken salad again aler on. It is 10:30 and headed for a cup of coffee with h/c!

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION! .....NASA
.....and CRICKET! & The A-TEAM!

We have learned and keep learning how our bodies adjust to the ever changing dynamics of life.

We follow the Philosophies set forth by DR ATKINS in DANDR..1972 or 1992 versions.

It does not get easier as we get to goal and we accept that we will keep trying and not give in to old habits. We move forward, even if we take steps backward, we strive for success.
Positive attitudes and a sense of humor is a big help.

WE ARE THE A-TEAM!

This is a one week week gambler's choice challenge. pick your loss goal to get to and keep from the 21st-28th.
