Thumbs up quitting-sugar-a-10-day-detox

On CBS "This Morning" 10 day sugar detox?

http://www.cbsnews.com/videos/quitt...or-weight-loss/

It's a start, but just leaving sugar off your oatmeal or jam off of your toast is still not good enough IMO.

Which is why I allow myself to lick the jam spoon (my homemade jams & jellies) after my husband has some. I get the great taste & it can't be more than 1 carb.

WOW if I licked that spoon I would be face first in a gallon of ice cream after that in a heartbeat

I can't lick sweet off my fingers even...I make sure they get washed immediately LOL

----at least some awareness is out there about sugar. which is good but other than 'cutting out some donuts' I don't know if people know how to process it. like sugar is hidden everywhere, under a ton of different names in products. I think people at some point are just baffled and don't give a crap.
everyone says eat less of this, eat more of that, only a smidge of this every other week....blah. even I got so diet weary it is sickening and I am a pro at it

If it were a bite of ice cream, I'd be in the same boat! But sweetness per se doesn't bother me - it's what the sweetness is wrapped in that can be a trigger for me. We're all different.

Over time on LCHF I found the sweet cravings vanish, starches like Artisan baked breads are a bit harder. I still like chocolate, on occasion, as long as its carb count is low enough. I even enjoy some "Bakers Chocolate", but I have to avoid chocolate with nuts in it

Me too. I used to be a baker. I don't dare bake now - I tried & it's just too tempting.

I also have trouble with nuts & cheese.

Agree that it's not good enough, Mike. Continuing to eat oatmeal and toast for some is simply adding the sugar back, only maybe not as much. But after eating the high carb way for many years, it doesn't take much to spike BG and insulin. We've trained our bodies over many years for this. The sad part is that eating habits develop when young, and many don't experience any metabolic or health problems until much later when eating habits are so ingrained, it's difficult to change.
