server too busy messages 16.30 - 16.33 BST (british summer time - GMT+1)

O.k., we've done some database cleanup to speed things up. If you encounter this error (other than during daily maintenance time 2am-4am EST) please let me know. Report the time you encountered it, which page (forum, gallery or MyP.L.A.N) and if you were reading or trying to post. Also, try to capture a screenshot, or the exact error text, and mention your browser.

A couple of minutes ago (17.36 gmt+1) trying to get onto the main forum, then just now trying to post a new thread in the Lc research forum.

Sme message as everyone else is getting 'server is too busy please try again later', tried to get a screen print, but wouldn't paste.

ETA: just tried to post this on this thread a minute ago and got the same message again:

So far four attempts at trying to post this message, same message each time.

seems like it did post one of them, as I've got a double post. Also got the message three times after pressing the 'edit' button to edit this post.

And after pressing save changes to post the edited message.

I was getting them again this morning, briefly, but around 11 p.m. last night quite a lot. The screenshots I posted before work. I tested them today. There were a few bad links in the post but they're gone now. Just click on the links and you will see them. I'm not sure why they didn't post. Other Flickr photos seem to work.

If the "server too busy" error is posted on a blank/white browser page, this is usually a networking problem. If it's surrounded with our forum border/style, it means our server is under heavy load/busy. If the pages just hang/too slow it's possibly the ads taking too long. We use Google ads, so it's quite rare. Some times it's due to loaded images/sigs from image sites as well. The source of the delay in such hangs can usually be seen from the status bar.

I'd like to assume that this "server too busy" occurrence has dropped down significantly. We now have detailed stats/monitoring tools to pin down when this takes place. So far today it only happened twice, for several seconds each time.

But please keep reporting, and specify the time and time zone.
