I was thinking about the way this is set up and I don't want anything negative or discouraging about it. When Jenny restarted today, I felt having the round # 2 and the Rounds under ur belt 0 was a bit discouraging. I don't really like folks adding up how many times they've eaten off plan bc it may lead to discouragement. We have enough of that with weight loss. Anybody agree to remove the round # we're on or see any benefit in having it? I need feedback on this. I don't want to start changing things without a response. Just a thought.

Hi Donna:

I noticed you cleaned up the list alphabetically. Thank you for doing that.

I do like the idea of avoiding discouragement. Hmmm..... as long as we can log the #of clean days I think we could lose the first and last columns of rounds. That way, anyone who is re-starting will always have at least 1. Perhaps we do need a column for # of clean weeks (which is just another way of saying rounds) for those people who start racking up more than 7 days. But there don't need to be any zeros: perhaps a dash instead, which can be changed to a number whenever someone completes a week. Maybe that would be psychologically better?

I find this thread so valuable, whatever you all decide is fine with me.

Since it is a week at a time, isn;t that the only number we need...just number of 7 day rounds? Updating the chart as it exists with all the constant copying and pasting and with all the different start dates is going to be a bit of a chore.

Hmmm. As discouraging as it is to have to start over, might it be even more discouraging if you had 3 or 4 rounds under your belt, but no acknowledgement of them? If I'm understanding you correctly, if you you went, say 32 days without a lapse, then faltered, you'd now starting over at Day 1, with no reference to those amazing 32 days? That seems equally discouraging to me. EDIT: I think I may have misunderstood Whofan and LC4good's responses. As long as we eliminate week # OR round #, but not both, I think we get the best of both worlds.

I am all for the most encouraging way to do this.

I think no matter how we structure it, we will be doing a lot of copying and pasting - or am I missing a way to avoid that?

I like the round # there. It makes me not want to ruin it because people can see how good/badly ive done...

I like it there too, were here to be pushed by one another, not to make it easy to break and so we don't feel bad when we break. Sounds kinda mean, but over the last bew months of doing my best to break habbits and going binge free, I have learned that tough love is a big part of it.

I agree here. I think the "rounds under ur belt" is an encouraging thing. It shows your accomplishments, and with the round # removed, it really only shows your accomplishments. You won't remember what round it is bc you won't be able to obviously do the math, or anyone else for that matter, because there is no record. I personally need the start and end dates so I can keep up with a week at a time, especially if I fall off of the wagon and don't journal it. We will have to copy and paste each time. I don't know of any other way to do it. Here's what it would look like:

What do you think? I guess if someone does or doesn't want something displayed, it can be what you want on your line. just keep it neat and in line and always copy the last one. Sometimes two people may be posting at the same time and the last one may not be really the last one. just look back and check after you post. Thanks! I don't mind feed back.

Ahhh! It was this comment by Big_Loser that got my attention. A nice balance of accountability and encouragment. Okay here's the original chart. Put a - if you don't want your round showing. I do think I'll leave mine for accountability. Thanks Big_Loser for pointing that out.

Wooo

So tomorrow im going to find it hardest not to drink alcohol. I usually drink a bottle of wine a day and my housemate drinks a bottle a few times a week but tomorrow she finishes work for the weekend and is already laughing at the fact im saying im not going to drink because she doesnt believe me.
I said well im not going to buy any and her response was 'so youll do what you always do when you say youre not drinking...you dont buy wine then you drink the whisky you have'

Have to get through tomorrow! I finish work around 8pm so im getting up early tomorrow morning so that i go to bed early tomorrow night and dont sit around watching her drink.
