Geesh, it's an almost word for word ripoff of a Taubes Lecture, any Taubes lecture. Lustig might be on our side for now, but if he's using others' work but fails to credit them, I don't trust him one bit.

Lustig begins with "Just remember, it's about the message not the messenger". Of course. If it was about the messenger and if the messenger was wrong, he'd have to do a flip flop and that's never good for a career. And if it was about the messenger, he'd have to credit Taubes.

Otherwise, it pretty much sums up what obesity is.

?? Lustig has been researching obesity since before GCBC was published. Here's an article he co-authored in 2003:

Suppression of insulin secretion is associated with weight loss and altered macronutrient intake and preference in a subset of obese adults.

And another from 2001: The neuroendocrinology of obesity

Lustig's been pursuing the hormonal origins of obesity for a long time; it's hard for me to see why he'd be considered a rider on Taubes's coattails. Taubes brought these ideas into wider consideration, but I think Lustig's bona fides are solid.

Well, I think it's lovely that over time we have more than one credentialed, well presented person to point to for information.

It wasn't so long ago that it was pretty different. The internet has been a big help to alternate perspectives in every field.

Lustig ripped off a Taubes lecture with this latest video, and failed to give credit. It don't matter how long he's been in the business.

having not seen any Taubes lectures I don't know what the rip-off was. But a great many of the biggest Taubes critics fault him, among other things, for being "merely" a science writer, and not having the right background to get his information correct. Those who are Taubes critics may be Lustig critics too, but I doubt they can fault his credentials. The more folks we have singing the song the better the choir.
