Default Non-Dairy Comfort Drink

This is really satisfying because it's very high in fat. I was looking for a lower-protein alternative to my whey protein shakes, but I don't care for the raw egg in a cold drink, so I made one with hot water instead.

Basic Drink
1 T coconut oil
1 T unsalted butter
1 egg
1 C boiling water

Melt the two fats together in the microwave for a few seconds. Add the egg, and mix together. (A stick blender works nicely.) Pour on the boiling water, and blend again.

From My P.L.A.N.:
0.4 gr carbs, 6.3 gr protein, 29.6 gr fat, 291 kcals
An extra egg makes it a filling breakfast on a cold morning. The breakdown is then:
0.8 gr carbs, 12.6 gr protein, 34.5 gr fat, 364 kcals

I quite like this as it is, but it's a bit thin and is much improved with the addition of other ingredients. Bear in mind that the carb counts will depend upon what you add.
A couple of my favourites are:
  • unsweetened chai tea in place of the plain water, with a drop of Sweetzfree added;
  • strong coffee instead of the water;
  • ¼ t cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg, and Sweetzfree;
  • 2 t dark cocoa.

If you can do dairy a tablespoon of double cream really makes it decadent. It will probably work well with SF syrups too.

Oops! I meant to put this in the "Breakfast" area.

It's only sweet if you add AS.
