Thumbs up Welcome to: Deep Fried Beef Sweetbreads!

Your tongue will smack your brains out tryin to get to em -- heheh

Ingredients:

1 - 2 pounds fresh beef sweetbreads. I get em at Wal-Mart (Rumba brand) I don't care for liver in that brand though.

1 - 2 gal fresh water.

8 oz cooking oil or 2 lb shortening. I used peanut oil, but natural lard or CO should work.

1 Fry Daddy appliance.

Method:

Soak sweetbreads for 2 hours or overnight in cold water with lemon/salt if desired, press dry when done.

Heat oil for 15 min per fryer directions. Carefully add meat to hot oil. Stir once during the 10 - 15 min cooking time with the supplied tool, smaller pieces need to be taken out and drained sooner or when fully browned. Store leftovers, if any, in the refrigerator

Their method more complex than mine:

I love sweetbreads but didn't really think about looking for them. I'll check Wal Mart - thanks for the tip!

I love sweetbreads but have never made them. I am shocked Walmart would have them! who knew? Since I shop at locally owned grocers I won't ever know if nearby walliemart has them. My question is, is there any special cleaning needed or are they generally prepped and ready to go? do they have carbs like some organs?
