Wherever you purchase coconut oil in Canada, check to see if they charge the Gouge & Scrape Tax (GST) for it. Some places consider it to be a "nutritional supplement" so the tax is applied . Both Superstores in my local area class it as a non-taxable grocery item, just like any other cooking oil.
I have purchased my last two from a Canadian company online. They have a 1 gallon tub for $66 which is an organic virgin coconut oil. I usually buy two at once with a friend as the shipping is free over $99. I have been really happy with the taste and texture http://calnans.ca/coconut-oil/
Thanks for the advice but I just looked on sears.ca and the 1 gallon was listed as 79.99. They did have one for 39.99 but that one was only a 54 oz tub. Is there another one on there that you mean. This was a nutiva brand I saw.
