I use it, though I haven't used it in awhile . It's pretty fun and a decent workout. Nothing too hard core, but I've worked up a sweat using it. I spend most of my time playing the balance games rather than the cardio or weight sections.

The hula hoop program is (or can be) an intense workout. Also, the step aerobic one is pretty good. I've used the running one, but my house is not on a slab foundation and so running in the house shakes the house. So I don't use it anymore. The balance ones are good for core exercises.

I don't have the balance board (yet!) but decided to take the 30 day challenge. On day 2. I like the variety. I've done running, lunges, tennis, boxing....the weight training portion is done with an elastic band. So far so good!
Oh I am on medium intensity.

We got one a couple of months ago - the kids love it and we all get a pretty good workout from it. Takes a bit of practice to get co-ordinated but you can get a good cardio workout from it. Then playing some of the balance games is a good warm down. Also helps keep the kids fit without them realizing they just did some exercise!

Default Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit Plus

Got a Wii system and Wii Fit Plus as a family gift this year. I have no experience with a Wii and was wondering if anyone can offer any comments about using the Wii Fit Plus for weight loss. Also, if there are any specific programs for the Wii that you love using for weight loss please let me know. Thanks.

I love my wii fit too. When I first started using it, I certainly felt it in my muscles and yes, that hula game can be pretty intense. I have wii fit plus now and like it just as much.

I don't use it for workouts, but for a daily weight check. It's nice to see progress on a graph, and it also seems to be a very consistent (accurate) scale.

Yes, hula hoops can be VERY cardio In fact, that's a damn good idea. I needed a way to test my new polar heart rate monitor. As soon as the kids go to bed it's hula hoop time!

*edit*
Got my pulse up to 149 on a 10 minute session

I got my Wii fit plus for Christmas...looooooooove it!!! I love how you can check in daily with wt, BMI etc... I looooove how you can log all your activities and see your progress and I loooooooove how I am getting exercise but my brain feels like I am just playing games, lol. The way I see it, if this gets me up and moving everyday then it's waaaaay more exercise than I was getting before the Wii ( which was almost none except for chasing after my 4 yr old and taking care of my 5 month old).

Haven't gotten the Wii fit yet, but definitely on my to do list. The boxing really wears me out. It's so much fun even though my arms are sore for days :-)

I also just purchased one, and I'm having a total blast on it. I'm actually sore right now, and I've easily played in for 30-45 minutes per day for the last 4 days. My favorite game is under the training section, and it's called "Obstacle Course." This involves running and jumping, and it gets a sweat going pretty quickly. I also really like the driving range and stepping. Keep me posted with your thoughts, and enjoy!

Does anyone have the Wii Fit Plus with the balance board? I've received a coupon from Costco that's good until Jan 10 (2010).

I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, so exercise is a challenge .. I need to start very slow. Does the program allow for beginners, or is it expected for you to dive in full force?

Doreen,

It does allow for beginners. You stick to the level you are comfortable with till you are ready to try harder. And the great thing is that the games are fun. You are working out and having fun. Some of the games are terrific for balance too.

Definately consider getting it.
