Well, here is my plan. I have company coming so I plan to make the traditional menu of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and homemade bread. My aunt is bringing regular pumpkin pie.

So, I am going to modify this slightly by making a small dish of stuffing for me with low-carb bread, I am making the gravy low-carb without telling anyone (they will never notice) and the same with the green bean casserole.

I am also going to make a low-carb cheesecake for dessert. I bought some of the no-sugar added cherry pie topping for it. So, this and a small amount of mashed potatoes will be my splurges for the day.

So, I will eat: turkey, gravy, little bit of mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, my stuffing, and cheesecake dessert. We will also be having some cocktails, so I am going to drink my low-carb homemade Kahlua with the low-carb milk. I figure I will have about a 100 carb day with this menu. 100 carbs is pretty much my maintenance level, so one day of that is okay I figure.

Okay, first for my weight update:

Name............Start Wt....Goal Wt.....Current Wt......Lbs left to lose

xturkeyldy..........165.5........142............159.................17 pounds
magic76.............159..........135.............152.................17 pounds
MommyP.............150..........130.............143.................>13 pounds?

I said >13, because my goal isn't my absolute goal. I chose a weight that I'd be okay with, but I'm not sure that I can't get lower than 130. But I don't want to push myself at the same time, KWIM?

For the Thanksgiving thing, we're actually doing it twice. My MIL is working on Thanksgiving Day, so we planned the family dinner for Saturday. Then, I was discussing having some people over on Thursday with my husband, but he misunderstood. I was thinking having people over for coffee and to hang out, but he went and invited 4 of our friends and their kids over for dinner. So, people are bringing what they want, but I get to make what's good for me/my family at the same time.

I think I'm steamrolling my SIL with my plans for the dinner there, lol. She doesn't believe in vegetables, except potatoes and corn, and the dinner is at her house. She wanted me to bring rolls, I e-mailed her back to inform her I was bringing deviled eggs, squash medley, and whole green beans. I think I surprised her, but she's going along with it. For one, I'm tired of Thanksgiving meals with no vegetables except sweet potato casserole, and the sweet potatoes are only a vehicle for sugar and marshmallows. Even if I weren't doing Atkins, I was planning on bringing a vegetable or two that ISN'T CORN. I could go off on a big rant about their eating habits, but I don't have the energy for that much typing. I don't mean to be judgmental, especially since my eating habits aren't that great. I just want some flavor in my Thanksgiving meal this year.

MommyP I hear you on the goal weight thing. 10 years ago when I last got serious about lowcarb I set my goal at 140. I made it to 142 and spent another 6 months at really lowcarb levels and added major exercise and I NEVER got any lower. I then assumed that 142 was my healthy weight. I want to add that after maintaining that for 4-5 years I went through some rough patches in life, were food was sparce, and went down to 138. But that came back on in no time.

The first time I went to Thanksgiving dinner at my MIL's place ever, I was expecting turkey and all the fixings. We showed up and dinner was roasted venison ribs, venison meatballs, and shrimp, plus some veggies, cheese and other stuff. I was bit shocked at the time, but now that I know my MIL much better, it is so fitting. Some of the members of the family joke about the "Roadkill Cafe" cause you never know what she will be making next.

OMG, that sounds just like my family. (And also the old me.)

I'm going to bring some kind of baked cauliflower dish (need to find a good recipe), and maybe some green beans. I thought about making a LC cheesecake, but I haven't decided yet.

Thanksgiving definitely derailed me last year. So I plan on being vigilant this year. The only thing worse for someone trying to lose weight than the holidays is going on vacation.

Vacations are KILLER. That is where almost all my gain back came from. I did great until this year. We took three vacations this year, and I swear I gained 10 pounds on the first one, 10 pounds on the second one and 5 pounds on the last one.

I ate the most on the last trip, but that was mostly fish so it was all good!

JEEZ!!!! I gained a pound in the last week. I better get back to proper food journalling. I've been using too much heavy cream and coffee lately. Maybe I'm starting to feel a bit cocky, too. I haven't been at this weight for years and don't want to start to lose focus.

I forgot about deviled eggs for Thanksgiving! How could I forget those on my menu. Probably because I'm pretty sick of eggs. But, deviled are pretty good.

So, anyhow folks, I'm dropping back down near induction levels for the next week before Thanksgiving to try and boost my weight loss. We'll see how that goes. I want to get this extra 5 pounds I gained back from quitting smoking OFF!
