robston,

Since us PP'ers are a minority on this forum and there's a separate web site for us (http://www.proteinpower.com/forum/), most PP'ers on this board hang out in the Atkins forum, whose food plan becomes quite similar to PP after about 6 weeks.

I'll second Corsair915's advice about the per-meal and per-day carb limits. You can't "bank" your carbs, because that spikes your blood insulin level, control of which is the object of PP.

It is the "modified/updated" version of PP (Protein Power) that is in the book Protein Power Lifeplan. PP was published in 1995 and PPLP in 2000. Based upon reader feed back from PP the Drs. Eades made changes, though the plan is not that much different, including a whole chapter on magnesium. While both books have bibliography of over 400 references, PPLP has half of the references from journal articles on research done AFTER 1995, so the foundation research is newer.

Also, the emphasis in the books is different. In PP they had to do what the publisher wanted, that is a diet book. Having done a best seller they then were able to write the book the way the wanted which I would say more resembles a text book in that is more about the whys and howtos of nutrition and dieting.

I always tell people they should have BOTH.

I agree with Larry AJ about having both books.
PPLP is my go-to book about supplementation and exercise. it truly is a life plan, and it is very scientifically sound.

You'll pull it out a lot when the nay-sayers tell you that low carb is unhealthy.
