I like to have a hint of buttery taste on my veggies with dinner. I was also thinking of using it on a multi-grain english muffin.

I understand. Pam makes a butter flavored spray.
I've used Smart Balance on my veggies and as a spread.
Now, my advice to you on eating a multi grain muffin so soon into your phase II.
I'd wait...I don't think that adding in flour at this stage of your phase II is wise.....way too soon. Start out with sweet potato first as that is a starchy veggie....second step would be to go to an actual grain as in oats in oatmeal. rolled, steel cut or old fashioned oats are acceptable...no instant!!

Do you understand why I say this?

OK...this is where it can get kinda confusing. Experience is what wins out here so please bare with me as I try to guide you through this.

As we enter into phase II, we begin to develop a food plan that we can use for the rest of our lives. This is where we learn which carbs our bodies do best with...and which drive us to overeat. I learned that wheat triggers my appetite and it leaves me very hungry...so I tend to avoid it as a grain in general and because of all the grains, wheat is the worst one to eat.

Now, on the( shhhhh...atkins carb ladder ) , grains are the very last group to add in on that plan...and this makes a lot of sense to me. so that is what I did....waited until I added in starchy veggies first, then added in grains.
Also, a muffin is made from processed grain, not using the whole grain and even whole grain flour is still flour. At the start it is best to add in foods in as whole a state as possible and avoid flour/bread until you are well advanced in phase II and close to your goal.
So...I highly recommend eating sweet potatoes, butternut squash, peas and carrots...as your first starches of phase II......if you need to have cereal, oatmeal will be your best choice...plain old fashioned oats, steel cut or rolled...no instant!! The less processed, the better.

Does that explain it?

Thanks for clarifying but I still have a question. Aside from triggering you to eat more, what else is wrong with the multi-grain english muffin? Is the appetite stimulant the only factor to consider with consumption of whole wheat flour products? Or is it just a matter of exerting self control/portion control when it comes to these items? I thought whole wheat flour was ok?

According to most people that push the SAD...whole wheat products are da bomb! Not to me and many people around here.
Wheat can be very addictive. Also, if you are engaging in very strenuous exercise, then the bread/flour may not be a factor...but if you aren't, flour will inhibit your weight loss...any flour!!
I wouldn't be telling you any of this if I didn't know it to be true. If you do go ahead with the muffin, know that 1/2 is a serving, not the whole muffin. And....if your weight slows or stops, then please don't eat them again until later when you are close to your goal.

Ahhhh!! Now I get it. Thanks for the advice. I guess I will stay away from it then, at least until I get close to my goal.

Why does it say "deleted" or added next to some of the food entries on the list?

Because this list is the updated list based on the latest book...so if the book deleted an item, its marked deleted.
