I did it!!! No beer!!! Day 7 of latest no-beer challenge successfully completed!!! I am feeling a lot better about this 10 pounds thing now!!! It may really be an almost realistic goal!!!

Thanks for rooting for me - it was a big help knowing I was going to have to account to you all!!!

I am very much hoping that I will soon have better stats to report, although I have a sneaky feeling I've got a water retention thing going... I think my fat cells are clinging on for dear life and are sucking up water - this happened before and then there was a whoosh, so maybe I have the same thing happening now. No movement on the scale but I'm tightening my belt on the next notch and, I know it's silly, but I feel slimmer, even though the scale says I'm not!!!

Fantastic! Well done.

My weakness is alcohol too so I know exactly how hard it can be! It's more important how you look and feel then the exact number on the scale. I haven't bought my own scale as I don't get a lot of movement within 1 week, so far fortnightly seems to be the go... so really hoping to be down in the 125 region.... fingers crossed.

Wonderful! We have a bride-to-be on board I hope we can offer some support leading up to your special day.

Way to go Amanda 7 days without beer is great! Think of all the carbs and calories you saved. I'm lucky not to like beer too much, my vice is whiskey. Deadly for the mind but easy on the carb count.

And thanks for the welcome, lilozzi. I hear it's easier to take them in than let them out - and I certainly won't mind paying for extra alterations!

See you all Monday for the weigh-in

Amanda - Congrats on the Beer avoidance! I really like Wine (so does DH - big time!) and I miss it a lot now that I'm on restriction. But the taste of THIN is a lot sweeter than WINE!! LOL!

If your body feels thinner, usually that follows on the scale, but it may take a day or 2. At least that is how it usually works with me.

Hi All!
Hope you had a great week and ready to kick off another! I didn't get as much done over the weekend as I had wanted to, (much temptations from those around to play...went to a movie, shopping, etc) so this week might be a little busy. I have to make sure to get my workouts in! I must, I must!!!

Hi Gals!

Many thanks for all the encouragement and support - that's what this is all about, really - and I can proudly announce that things are looking up - or shall I say "down"? - in terms of numbers!!!

I am now on Day 10 of my no-beer challenge and things are fine! This is the third time this year that I have got down as far as 138+, but the last two times I sabotaged it by falling off the no-beer and/or no-cake wagon... I WILL NOT LET THIS HAPPEN THIS TIME!!!

I tried on some of my summer shorts yesterday and I can get into them, but they are still too tight to wear comfortably. I really need to get rid of another 8.4 pounds, definitely!!!

Hope the rest of you had a good weekend and saw some welcome changes in the numbers, too!

amanda

s/f chocolate pudding (or whatever flavor you like)
ice
heavy cream
cold water
put it all in a blender and get ready for the best low carb shake you will EVER taste! If you make it with the chocolate s/f pudding I swear it tastes just like a Wendy's frosty!!
I like to free pour until it tastes good so I don't have the exact measurements. *sorry*

Also...
2 8oz packets of cream cheese
2 eggs
1/2 tsp of vanilla
sweetener to taste
soften cream cheese in microwave for about 40 seconds. Add other ingredients and mix until smooth. An electric mixer is the only way to go with this recipe. Pour into muffin pan lined with the papers and bake at 350 for about 20 minutes. These taste better cold. They tastes like cheese cake. My hubby likes to top them with s/f fruity preserves.

These are my save-all-recipes for my killer sweet tooth. I hope they work as good fo ryou as they do for me.

I had to update my starting weight. :-(
No weight loss for me this week. I didn't gain anything either. I'm ready for an awesome week! Great job to all the losers for this week!

I like raspberries with whipped cream (I mean a lot of whipped cream). Raspberries are 8g of carbs per 100g, so if you have a medium-sized portion that is already 12g of carbs. But good!

Having said that, at the moment I am re-reading "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary Taubes. The main reason I am doing so is to re-educate myself about sugar. If you read his very convincing hypothesis about how sugar basically causes cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's Disease and all the misery that goes with those complaints, then you kind of lose your sweet tooth...

Another solution is to look for the thread: "74 reasons to avoid sugar" and then, if that doesn't work, check out the recipe subforum on this forum.

Hope you find a solution to your cravings! (one other way: eat more fat so you are properly full and don't feel any hunger pangs at all).

Good luck whatever route you take!

amanda

I just updated the chart because an incorrect one was being copied. Could you all make sure that you always use the most recently updated chart to post your update?

OK, let's have a great week!!!!

Mis Melis - Well done on the 1 pound... what a great start

Ever feel like a scrumptious muffin?

MIM

1/4 cup flax meal
1 tbs cream
1 tsp butter or coconut oil
1 egg
1 pkt splenda
1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
pinch of baking powder

Place butter in coffee mug and nuke until melted. Then place all remaining ingredients in a mug and mix well. Place in microwave on high for 1 minute. MAGIC!

I like to top mine with cream cheese and a sprinkle of cinnamon and splenda. MMMMM.... muffin

CHOC MIM

1 tbs flax meal
1 tbs almond meal
2 tbs pure cocoa
1 tbs cream
1 tsp butter or coconut oil
1 egg
2 pkt splenda
pinch of baking powder

Same method as above but a bit sweeter and chocolatey! For an extra treat add vanilla or banana essence, or perhaps some shredded coconut or crushed nuts.
