Default colonoscopy here i come!

ok, just talked with the gastrointerologist. he scheduled me for a colonoscopy next week.

oddly, the thing im most nervous about is drinking that nasty crap...im scared! for those of you who have done it, is there alot of cramping and pain? or do you just poop alot for like, 10 hours?

im scared!

oh, I'm so sorry.... but that's what was expected. At least you'll get to the "bottom" of the problem this way.

Did you ask about the carb count in the nasty drink? I would have!! (but we already know that about me!)

Hang in there.... and don't fret too much, okay? And no googling about colonoscopies!

I have had one it was not near as bad as the anticipation of it. There was not much cramping for me at all. You will be a little uncomfortable after but nothing bad.

I have to have a colonoscopy every 3 years, so I've had several. The stuff you have to drink has been improved somewhat. The first several times I had to drink it, it was terrible. Even my pharmacist referred to it as "swamp water."

The last time the stuff wasn't so bad. In fact, it even came with little packets of flavorings you could add to make it taste better. I don't remember any cramping or pain, but that doesn't guarantee that you won't experience some.

If yours doesn't come with the flavor packets, I was told in the past that I could mix some sf Crystal Light in with the "drink," but only to use the lemonade flavor.

No cramping but you do poop like mad.

I learned two things about the "prep". One is that you should start earlyish the day before, not right before bedtime otherwise you will be up pooping all night long.

The other is that, when you go to bed, put some towels down on your bed just in case you don't wake up in time to get to the bathroom.... It is mostly water but still.

*sigh*

yes, and eat nothing with seeds (no raspberries, strawberries, etc) or nothing with red dye a few days prior to test.

sigh...ok. so its probably not as bad as it sounds. a little scary tho...i would think that if something were really wrong with me (kink in the intestine, tumor, some sort of blockage) that i would be in pain...hmm.
