Well, this is the end of my 5th week on sb. I recruited my sister, my significant other (he only wanted to lose a few, but he's game) and my sister has since recruited two of here friends.

DS, SO and myself have lost 68 pounds between us. DS is doing best at 37 pounds in 5 weeks. I've done 17 (best I can tell after purchasing new scales), and my SO is down 14. My sister's recruits just finished their first week of ph 1 and lost 10 each.

I lost weight before, but I was an avid Weight Watcher (back when they had the exchange lists). I kept it off until a couple of years ago, and I managed to just "blossom". I did a lot of reading, and called my sis and told her about SB, and we decided we were going to do it. If all else failed, we'd just go back to WW.

I guess WW will just have to do without us! So far, I'm liking this method much better.

awww renee.....you know its TOM bloat and the summer heat too.
Relax...it'll be gone in a couple of days.

deb1959 .... AWESOME results!! Congrats on getting your family involved too. Its great when we all eat the same kinds of foods.

Sissy is another former WW person...she loves SB much better too!!

I never did well on WW....I hated having to learn their silly point system! I needed to learn about the foods themselves and SB has done this for me.

Renee: I am sooooooooo feeling your pain!!!! Had the same experience this month. What is UP this summer? I was so bloated that I had "man-hands"! Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Deb: Wow, congrats on your progress so far!!!!

Judy: I didn't know you did WW before. I did, too (twice, both times not very successfully). I swear that the points made me want to cheat.

yeah, I lost that 1.2 that I found last week. Now, I have to keep it going down. I have been playing with the same pound for about 5-6 weeks now. It's hard to eat when running to the hospital/rehab and stuff. I need to think of some things that will keep that I can have at a moments notice.

I posted the list before I read your post Judy. I see what you mean now. I'll put the date on my post with next weeks weight.

I have done some of those, too: now I shudder to think how much it all cost. And they all felt like short-term fixes, somehow (certainly not something I'd want to do forever).

Good Morning All, I must have started and stopped WW 50 times. Sometimes when I feel like I've overeaten on SB I'll add up my daily points to see where I would be with WW and I'm always fine. I'm trying really hard to stear away from that habit but sometimes it actually comforts me. Silly I know. Its amazing that the same amount of points without junk food is so much more satisfying.

If counting points help you feel OK, then isn't all that matters? Over time, you'll probably find that you don't need to do it any longer though.

Yes, getting rid of junk and processed foods, is a much more satisfying way to eat. This is anothe reason that I refuse to eat any of the Kraft SBD food line. Its all very processed and follows the guidelines of SB only loosely. so none of their boxed garbage carbage for me!

I made a lovely dinner last night. Shrimp marinated in evoo, white balsamic vinegar, fresh grated garlic and hot paprika w/ lime juice and chopped fresh cilantro. Sauteed it up on high heat w/ canola oil. Then I sauteed mushrooms and spinach in evoo, crushed red pepper and fresh garlic. I have lots left over for a salad with the shrimp. I'm going to have an omelet with the leftover spinach and mushrooms.

Is the Kraft SBD line the frozen dinners? I had the King Pao Chicken once and found it totally unsatisfying for the 15 carbs.

Yes, the frozen dinners are just part of the line of foods.

And keep in mind Susan, we do not count carbs on this plan. So its not the 15 carbs, its the processing of the foods that make it a bad choice.

I do realize that for you and your type I diabetes, counting carbs is a way of life.

Judy, it was just a very unsatisfying dinner and I'm not a big eater. I think the sauce had something sweet in it because there wasn't enough carbs in the dinner to add to up 15.

Yes, I have to count carbs to take insulin. The SB diet seems more geared to exchanges because of the food lists. It's a very doable system for diabetics.
