My girlfriend lost about 30 pounds doing low cal her face looks horrible, puffy, saggy and wrinkly, it is like she has aged 15 years. She eats very little but always very carby. I do low carb and find my face always looks better and definitely my skin is healthier and it glows. WOOHOO love LC.

Let's hope low cal girlfriend doesn't read this blog! Ouch!

I've always had a chubby face, so am not sure. Eating too much sugar makes me look like a puffer fish though.

For me, the puffy "carb face" is distinct from a generally fat face. After a week away from carbs, long before I have lost any significant fat, my face will look tighter and less puffy. Particularly around the eyes, everything pulls in and looks more youthful. I think water-retention is the mechanism that causes my "carb face". Losing it is one of my favorite side benefits of low-carbing.

The first place i notice weight loss when I restart my low carb WOE is in my face. That puffy, poochy, stuffed looking face starts going away before I even lose a moderate amount of weight. My cheekbones return, etc.

So yes, I think carb face is for realz!!!
