Default Why don't I get bored?

So, I hear this so much and I wonder why I don't get bored of my diet.

Almost everyday I have the same sort of salad: Meat (usually chicken), baby lettuce, avocado, maybe some olives, dehydrated onions (yeah, they're good!), olive oil and rice vinegar. The ingredients vary slightly depending on what I have around, like perhaps a tomato or hard boiled egg. I dig into it and relish it. Every dang day almost! I never ever get sick of it. I've been eating this salad or one just like it for years now. I still love it.

It almost seems like the more restrictive my diet becomes, the more I am happy with my food. Not what one would expect, but there you go.

Change your dressing to mayo with minced garlic and I ate that for lunch for years. I stopped it one day about 2? years ago. Haven't eaten once since. Breakfast, if I eat it, is usually the same for weeks on end.

Dinner is varied. I don't really need variety for breakfast or lunch -- I need something mindless then. But if I eat the same dinner all the time I get really bored, really fast. Memories of grad school....

I don't really get bored either - and my diet is pretty darn restrictive at this point. Maybe I've just switched off my "eating for pleasure" gene or something.

I find I can go for long stretches eating the same things over and over as well. Maybe it's like what Steffanson experienced in the Arctic - he suddenly started looking forward to boiled fish every day.

I guess I really don't get bored with my brunch selection of 2 things which I alternate. I've been eating those for a couple of months. I can get an aversion to meat very easily so I have to alternate the dinner items. I usually don't eat meat for brunch. This WOE can be hard if you don't naturally like meat.

I don't get bored easily but my picky partner does.
When I was eating high carb I ate the same thing every single night for dinner and I LOVED it. Roasted chicken leg, white rice, green salad with diced green pepper, onion, radish, lettuce, tomato and cucumber and dressed with olive oil and lemon juice. Of course I had to eat this with (of all things) ketchup. I don't know why but I loved ketchup. I would take a bite with salad, chicken, rice and ketchup on the spoon and it was perfect. Weird!

I am often surprised how well I do on eating variations of the same things day after day and even year after year.I have a few staples that I love and keep on coming back too. I think that identification of the "staples" that make you content and that are "safe" is a big part of success with a long term diet. I have certain foods that I know are low carb/healthy and that I really like. I trust those items and they are in my comfort zone. I expierement sometimes and even have short term favorites, but always come back to the tryed and true. Crab salad with avacado is one..mmmm

I'm a creature of habit with breakfast. Eggs (sometimes scrambled, sometimes fried), bacon (2 slices) and tea. Beau Monde Seasoning on my eggs.

Repeat ad nauseum. (Seriously, I've had the same breakfast for years now and I love it!)

My other meals are quite varied.

That's what I was thinking too. Maybe there's something about what we eat... we don't really get bored it's just that we're craving other stuff we shouldn't eat.

I used to pride myself on the huge variety of foods I ate.

Everyday when I tuck into this salad I go, "OMG! This tastes amazing".

I don't eat much variety either, and I don't get bored.

But I have to admit, years ago, the times I (unsuccessfully)tried low carb before I was diagnosed diabetic, boredom was a problem.

Makes me wonder if for me, I felt bored with low carb when I had a choice to eat that way or not. I no longer feel like I have that choice.

Yeah, that kind of fits in with my thought above. In my quest o save myself from the diabetes, I no longer desire stuff I shouldn't eat.

I don't get bored either with the same foods. I consider that to be a plus; it's less stress.
