In addition to all the stuff mentioned already, lifting weights is cardio if you are heavy. Ok, it's not as intense as running on a treadmill, but chances are you can't run far now, but you could lift weights for 30 minutes without drowning in your own sweat.

Personally, I found lifting weights was a real ego boost when I was much fatter. If someone skinny was giving me dirty looks, I'd tell myself "Bet she can't leg press 200kg like I can".
