Exclamation Thursday and Body Pump

Was not able to go last Thursday as needed the time to finish the preparations for the Brownie weekend. As a consequence I could not go to Aquafit. So it is a fortnight since any structured exercise.

As I am still feeling tired from the weekend away - blow those hormones - I decided to use the lightest weights possible. Could really feel the muscles working, particularly in the legs and shoulders. Wonder if I will ache in 48 hours time? Had some more new tracks and regimes to try today. Overall the session did me good and it really pumped the blood all round my body.

Cannot go next Thursday as will be at a meeting.

Exclamation Saturday and Aquafit - 29th June

Well I am slipping. I did not put my Aquafit session in from June 29th. Thought that I had had one more class in the last fortnight.

A good session of aqua fit and I did 6 lengths of the pool with backstroke as well.

Thumbs up Saturday and Aquafit

Back to aquafit today. A good session. Really made the muscles in my legs work. Afterwards only did two lengths of the pool. Kept inhaling water! Had a nice relax in the jacquzzi before having a shower.

Booked in for next Saturday.

Thumbs up Saturday and Aquafit

Aquafit again today. Did not go to Body Pump on Thursday as had a meeting to attend. A good session, however the music was non-existent. I understand someone forgot to charge the battery. Did two lengths of the pool, backstoke before the session. Had a nice relax in the jacquzzi before having a shower.

Booked in for next Saturday and Body Pump on Thursday.

I must see if this week I can get back to the gym and do so cv stuff.

Thumbs up Saturday and Aquafit

Aquafit today. No Body Pump on Thursday as in Oxford. Felt a bit tired to begin with, possibly after 2 days with lower protein levels. A good session, and I really felt my legs had had a workout.

Booked in for next Saturday and Body Pump on Thursday.

Thumbs up Thursday and Body Pump

Back to body pump tonight. For various reasons I think I only went once in July. Must do better.

Overall the session did me good and it really pumped the blood all round my body. We had quite a few new tracks this session. I liked the tricep track. I did not do the dips, but the other exercise with the bar actually worked my triceps. Normally I do not feel anything. Getting better at squats. Now happy to do them without holding on to anything. Could not do that last autumn.

There was another smaller lady there yesterday, looks as if she does quite a bit of exercise, but also could do with loosing quite a bit of weight. Unusal to see someone who reminds me of me. We did not speak.

Thumbs up Hurrah!!!

I'm saying a big hurrah as I finally made it back to the gym this evening. The last time I was there was the end of April. So that is three months since I was last there.

The hormones were the problem, took all my energy away. Have been meanting to make it back for the last week, finally got my act together tonight.

Took it real easy, but my legs certainly feel they have had a work out. Wore heart monitor which said I was in the zone for just 4 mins of 33 mins exercise. Used 95 kcal.

Rotex - 5 minutes at level 2, speed 105 -115
Abductor machine did 20 reps, twice fast, at 20 kg
Abductor machine did 20 reps, twice slow, at 20 kg
Treadmill - 15 minutes at 3.0 kph and 0% gradient

Aim is to try to go four times a week, including classes. Aim for next visit to the gym on Sunday.

Thumbs up Saturday and Aquafit

Aquafit again today. A good session, and I really felt I'd had had a workout. Just did a couple of lengths in the pool. Not feeling up to more.

Booked in for next Saturday but our instructor will be away, so who will replace her.

Thumbs up Gym on Sunday

I followed up the good efforts of Friday with a visit to the gym on Sunday afternoon. Added in a couple more resistence exercises today. Noticed that I found my walk at the end much easier than Friday. Wore heart monitor which said I was in the zone for around 10 mins and used around 130 kcal. Found that the abductor machine turned my monitor off. The pads pushed the watch, therefore both todays and Fridays results are not fully representative.

Rotex - 5 minutes at level 2, speed 110 -120 - slightly faster
Abductor machine did 20 reps, twice fast, at 20 kg
Abductor machine did 20 reps, twice slow, at 20 kg
Using a body pump bar with 5kg of weights
Bicep curls - did 20 reps, twice as singles
Bicep curls - did 20 reps, twice slow (count of 4 up and 4 down)
Chest flies (overhead raises) - did 20 reps, twice as singles
Chest flies (overhead raises) - did 20 reps, twice slow (count of 4 up and 4 down)
Treadmill - 15 minutes at 3.0 kph and 1% gradient - increased gradient

Was interested to see how much more the slow lifts hurt. Shoulders and thighs ached afterwards.

Thumbs up Gym on Monday

Well really getting back into the swing of things. Two days on the trot at the gym.
Did slightly different resistence exercises today. Wore heart monitor which said I was in the zone for around 14 mins and used around 140 kcal.

Rotex - 5 minutes at level 2, speed 110 -120
Abductor machine did 20 reps, twice fast, at 20 kg
Abductor machine did 20 reps, twice slow, at 20 kg
Using a body pump bar with 5kg of weights
Chest flies (overhead raises) - did 20 reps, twice as singles
Chest flies (overhead raises) - did 20 reps, twice slow (count of 4 up and 4 down)
Chest presses - did 20 reps, twice as singles
Chest presses - did 20 reps, twice slow (count of 4 up and 4 down)
Treadmill - 15 minutes at 3.0 kph and 2% gradient - increased gradient

Again shoulders and thighs ached afterwards and shoulders hurt a bit during the exercise.

Thumbs up Gym on Wednesday

Felt pretty tired on Tuesday. Probably to much exercise, to quick. Felt better Wednesday.

Again did different resistence exercises today. Wore heart monitor which said I was in the zone for around 14 mins and used around 130 kcal. It suggests that on the cv apparatus I use about 6 kcal a minute, whilst doing resistance training is virtually nothing!

Rotex - 5 minutes at level 2, speed 105 -115 - found this harder, calves protested a bit
Abductor machine did 20 reps, twice fast, at 20 kg
Abductor machine did 20 reps, twice slow, at 20 kg
Using 2 x 2kg dumbells
Upright chest flies, did 20 reps, twice
Straight arm front raises, 1 set of 20 reps
Treadmill - 15 minutes at 3.0 kph and 2% gradient

Thumbs up Thursday and Body Pump

Wow, in the last 7 days I have been to the gym 4 times and also to aquafit and body pump. I must be on the up.

Body pump tonight. Overall the session was good. Started off with slightly heavier weights, compared to last week, and could really feel the muscles working. Lightened up half way through to help me get to the end. Leg muscles hurt quite a lot and was very poor at doing the lunge track.

Booked to go next week. Our usual instructor will be away with her family in Tunisia.

Hi Anne,

I was just posting in my gym log and saw yours. Thought I'd stop in and give you for doing so well! It sounds like you are getting strong.

Thumbs up Gym on Tuesday

Well back to the gym today, Tuesday. Glad to report that after the tiredness of overdoing it last week I managed OK. Found the rotex very difficult to do at the beginning and had to put the level down a notch, however was OK after that. Thought I had slightly tweeked my knee doing lunges last Thursday, but did not suffer much from this, I'm pleased to say.

Got back into doing upright rows this time. Wore heart monitor which said I did almost 50 minutes of exercise and was in the zone for around 14 mins and used around 130 kcal.

Rotex - 5 minutes at level 1, speed 95 - 105 - found this hard, lower level and lower speed than previously
Abductor machine did 20 reps, twice fast, at 20 kg
Abductor machine did 20 reps, twice slow, at 20 kg
Using a body pump bar with 5kg of weights
Upright rows - did 20 reps, twice slowish (count of 2 up and 2 down)
Chest flies (overhead raises) - did 20 reps, twice as singles
Chest flies (overhead raises) - did 20 reps, twice slow (count of 4 up and 4 down)
Chest presses - did 20 reps, twice as singles
Chest presses - did 20 reps, twice slow (count of 4 up and 4 down)
Treadmill - 15 minutes at 3.0 kph and 3% gradient - up 1% gradient

Thumbs up Thursday and Body Pump

Nearly did not have a class tonight. Our instructor is on holiday and they guy who said he'd take the class did not turn up. Lucky for us another instructor came to take part in the class and ended up taking it.

It was a bit hot this evening, glad for the air con in the room, very few of us. Overall the body pump session was good. Started off with 4 Kg weights again, and went back to 2 Kg for the tricep track and later exercises. Was very careful on the lunges as think I tweeked my right knee last week.

No class next week as I will be away.
