Default Checking in...

Hello Marylanders!

Glad to meet the new ones on the MD forum. I think Lisa's idea about getting together for a weigh in and a steak at Outback (no we won't weigh ourselves at Outback ) would be nice. There's an Outback off of Rt 29 Just outside Columbia that may be a good place to go. Any takers?

Default Count me in!

I live right in Columbia, so that would work great for me. School nights are kind of tough, but I could do a weekend night -- maybe Terrie and I could come together!

Default Ellicott City Outback

...or maybe it's considered Columbia? It's near Barnes & Noble, and some other stores (Safeway, Carrabas, Target). It's the busiest Outback in the world, if that helps tell you where it's at... and they open at 2 on the weekend and I have every Saturday free, the hubby does some gaming stuff. I like to be there when they open because I don't have the patience to wait and I don't like to eat the Outback Special late in the evening. I also like that there is NO SMOKING allowed in any restaurant in Howard County. I'm so allergic to smoke, and basically anything that grows! Right now I'm beyond miserable with sneezing, etc.

So let's do it, get together and have a gab fest, shall we? Next Saturday? My email is LPOWELL11~aol.com.

Question Sat May 4

I'm free that day. What time should we meet? Joanie and Terrie and anyone else interested, What is good for you?

Lisa, I love that shopping center. I love the B&N and Target (pronounced tar-jay with a french accent!) I've been to that Outback on several occasions, and you're right, it is a very popular and crowded place to eat in the area.

I live in Randallstown and I come down to Columbia all the time because my parents live there. I actually went to high school in Columbia. I graduated from Oakland Mills many moons ago.

Anyway, I really look forward to meeting you all and being able talk freely about this WOL without having to type! My e-mail is auntteetee~earthlink.net if you want to contact me.

Hope to see you soon!

Talking Sydney

2:00 or 3:00, they get crowded early. I graduated from Francis Scott Key (Union Bridge) many moons ago. I grew up in Carroll County and prior to moving back, spent about 13 years in Myrtle Beach, SC. My home office is in SC (Columbia)

I think I miss the shopping centers/malls down there the most. I have yet to find a nice mall up here that's fairly close and I like. I think I miss Belk. Heck, we drove an hour + to go to Super Wal-Mart in York last Sunday because it used to be a family tradition in South Carolina

Okay, pick a time and I'll be there. (I have to drive to SC on Sunday, another reason to meet early, so I can pretend that I won't wait until the last minute to pack.

I think it'll be much fun!

Default 2:00 or 3:00 would be fine.

I've been to those super Wal Marts in VA and NC. I wonder why there aren't any here in MD. I was actually in one a couple of weekends ago in VA. I was amazed at the prices in their grocery store.

I can be at the Outback at 2pm on Sat May 4. I say let's set that and if anyone else can show up, that's great--the more the merrier!

See you then!

Default sounds good

Hi guys,

Meeting at 2:00 on May 4 sounds fine for me. That shopping center is very convenient for me (I'm over there a lot) and Outback sounds great...except that it will be hard to pass up the blooming onion!

In regards to the note that Theresa wrote about Oakland Mills HS...that's where my son will eventually go, if we don't move to another part of Columbia. That's IF he graduates second grade, which is sometimes in question! We live in the Jeffers Hill part of Long Reach...were you in that area?!

I'm gonna send an email to Terrie, since I don't know if she knows about this plan or not; she hasn't posted here recently. Unless you hear otherwise from me, plan on me for next week.

Looking forward to meeting you all -- we need to take a pic of all of us and post it on this site!!

Default Oakland Mills

Actually, I lived in Running Brook in the village of Wilde Lake, but when I was in 11th grade, OMHS first opened, so they offered to bus people from the west side to OM since WLHS was so crowded. I, and two of my sibs who were in HS, switched. We all hated WLHS at the time.

My first apartment was in OM at Autumn Crest. Of course, that was a VERY long time ago!

Glad you'll be able to make the luncheon! Can't wait to meet everyone!

Lightbulb I confess

I got hungry for the Outback Special so we went yesterday. That's all good, I'll be more than ready next Saturday. I don't know if it's because it was Sunday but there was sure a lot of blue-hairs there and if the one behind me had pushed/ran into me one more time I was going to have to beat her over the head with my purse. Is it my imagination or are old people getting meaner/nastier? I can see the point where you've made it this far, who cares what the world thinks, but heebie jeebie, it was BAD yesterday.

Default The Power of Suggestion...

Just couldn't wait, Lisa, now could you! I don't blame you. I went out on Sunday and bought a nice NY Strip Steak to grill on my George Foreman Grill. All that talk about the Outback made me crave a good steak--and it WAS good!

Anyway, nothing wrong with eating steak twice in a week! Viva La Low Carb!

I don't want to overdo it on the red meat, I guess

Glad we're going to be able to get together and trade stories and hints, etc.
