Default Kelp Noodles!

Big excitement! I finally found kelp noodles. They're clear, taste/odor free. I made a "Thai salad" out of them (1/2 C of water, vinegar and 1/2C sugar equiv. sweetener -- use agave syrup, honey, splenda, whatever). Sprinkle on onion powder, add cilantro, mint, red pepper flakes, whatever. They absorb the flavors you serve with them and are crunchy if uncooked.

When you cook them they act more like noodles, no crunch. I'd like to try making Pad Thai with them.

If you go to kelpnoodles.com you can read up on them. I found them at whole foods market.

I'll be looking for these. Whole Foods is one of my regular stops. One of the posters on the original thread described them as "looking like worms." Who can resist that??

Thanks Nancy. I wasn't that happy with shirataki noodles and I think I'll try these.

Because they're carriers for sauce flavors!

Hell, pass the bottle of sauce. I've drank worse!

(Do they make these into crackers, by chance?)

Yeah, they're small like angel hair. They're crunchy unless you cook them.

Yum! I finally got to Whole Foods again and bought more of these. They've been great on my hcg diet because they're almost 0 calorie and they're rather filling buggers. They don't seem to make my tummy unhappy either.

I was making spaghetti sauce and putting the noddles right in the sauce to cook and get soft. They remind me more of rice noodles than wheat noodles.

You need that much to counteract the sourness of the vinegar. .5 cup vinegar, .5 cup water, .5 cup of sweetness (or equivalent).

Awesome resurrected post . I have always tried different types of seaweed in various forms for the mineral content, but never cared for the taste. Kelp noodles sound perfect, especially to add some substance to the bowls of "sauce" I like to eat.

Are they sold wet or dry? I can't tell from the pictures on the website and it mentions rinsing them.

They're sold wet, packed in water. They're in the deli section of my local Whole Foods.
