Default Liquid Stevia ... disappearing!!

Hi guys,

I've just noticed my fav liquid stevia seems to be disappearing from shelves! My online shop (thexton) has run out and doing a search I've found a lot of other online shops have too!! Nooooo!!!!

I don't want the powdered muck, who know what they use as fillers!

I just checked netrition.com, and they have both the SweetLeaf brand and NOW brand of liquid Stevia, both in plain and flavored.

But how much do they charge to send products to Australia?

I find the Now brand liquid in the local super market in the health isle.

Now I prefer the SweetLeaf Plus packets 500 mg (90% Steviosides) they also sell-- the filler is inulin fiber.

Just a reminder - this thread is in the Australia/New Zealand subforum. Stevia is not available in supermarkets here.

Hi bsheets,
don't know about the liquid stevia. As far as I know you should still be able to find it at the health food store. I have seen it lately at Healthy Life up here in QLD. The last time I bought some I got it from the naturopath at my local health food store and she got me pure stevia powder, in bulk.
Do you find that stevia has this bitter aftertaste? I tend to mainly use splenda now, but I don't really know how it effects insulin spike.

Over here in SA we can also find stevia in chemists. Worth checking if it's the same in Melbourne

Default liquid stevia

Ok what am I missing? Bought the liquid stevia to put in my coffee instead of my splenda that stalls me and its GROSS! I tried doing it one drop and a time and kept tasting and its yucky! It was $11.99 for this bottle and I want to make it work but I must be doing something wrong.

Hi mermeaiden9,

bit hard to meter out for cooking though, and there is the question of a slight bitter aftertaste. One good thing about splenda is that you can meter it out like sugar in cooking.
BTW, have you noticed any side effects from eating stevia? I used it for years and found that it seems to dry out my skin. I have also spoken with someone else who uses it, and they have said the same thing. Don't know, what's your take on this?

I find the powdered stevia tastes yukky but dont have any problems with the liquid stuff. I didn't find it an aquired taste at all I must admit. Can't stand Splenda ewwww, it froths in your coffee!

I've never noticed a side affect from stevia, but I don't use large quantities. A squirt in my drinks every couple of days. How much were you using, Bullseye, to feel your skin dry out?
