Default Orange Julius

I got some Isopure Zero Carb (Vanilla) protein powder this week and I'm lovin' it. I started out using Cranberry Crystal Light instead of water which was fantastic! This afternoon I tried it with Crystal Light Sunrise Classic Orange and it tasted like an Orange Julius shake.

In a blender I mixed:

2oz. Heavy Whipping Cream
5oz. Crystal Light Sunrise Classic Orange (I use the Walmart brand)
1 scoop of vanilla flavored protein powder
crushed ice

So much better than the Atkins shakes I've been drinking.

Wow, this sounds great! Did you add any water, or just the cream and ice?

I guess I failed to mention that the Crystal Light was already mixed with water. I keep a couple of pitchers in the refrigerator of Crystal Light already made up. I substitute the Crystal Light for the water that is called for in other recipes.

I ordered my protein powder from Vitacost http://www.vitacost.com/
I think most of the Vitamin and Supplement websites sell it. I like Vitacost because the shipping costs are a flat fee.

Sounds really good. Thanks for the tip.
It really irks me that there are no low carb options available in fast food places anymore. It would certainly seem that places ike Orange Julius could offer something like this.

Thanks for the idea. I just made one, very good. I needed a treat like this today, it's hot out and this hit the spot. It really is like an Orange Julius drink.

I used Carb Solutions Vanilla shake mix. Mine wasn't frothy enough so I decided to add an egg. I remember when I was growing up, Orange Julius gave an option of adding a raw egg, lol. I'm not afraid of eating raw eggs so I threw one in. No difference in taste.

It didn't help much to make it creamier but I did need to get in more protein today so it worked out anyhow.

I'll definitely be making this again

I just wanted to say thak you for this recipe. I love it and so does the BF. I use it in the mornings (on occasion) for a quick breakfast and I also add the egg. It is very filling and I add more crystal light than water. BTW, my BF likes it with the sugar free tropicana orange-ade (which he loves).

I only had the lemonade flavor and half n half. Still ended up pretty tasty. I have to forego the raw egg bit. I used to make shakes with them but within half an hour my stomach is upset.

I'm looking at the Vitacost site and trying to find the right powder that you used for this recipe, can you tell me the brand name or something? Was it the NSI Whey ISO, or the Biochem sports powder or the NSI natural whey protein complex with xylitol, stevia and aminogen vanilla? I'm confused! lol

Nature's Best Perfect Zero Carb Isopure Creamy Vanilla

is what I use. It's expensive, but I love the taste.

another winner is to make a shake out of

8 oz Diet V8 Splash (tropical fruit flavored)
1 serving vanilla protein powder (I use whey & egg protein)
a few ice cubes, crush 'em in the blender before adding the rest.
