Hi Girls,

I want very much to join, strange even though I am not in the church I am very much a God fearing individual.

My Goals are as follows;

1) Take at least 25 minutes to meditate and pray, I know this will spiritually and mentally cleanse me to be a stronger motivated person.

2) To walk 5 days per week

3) To practice what I once lived in my younger years for this challenge eating only fish throughout this season.

Its strange I remember years ago, when I was spiritually focus, my will power was so strong, I know this challenge will turn out to be more than just a weight loss for me.

"But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I shall come forthas gold". Job 23 verse 10

ok I thought of what I can do:
1. Give up partcially hydrogenated foods and foods containing high frutose corn sryup, and sugar. (I rarely have sugar anyway that is why I am adding the coffee as that will be a REAL challenge for me!)
2. Limit myself to two cups of coffee twice a week.
3. Excercise ~ least 4 times a week.
4. Devotions everyday
I know all these things will make a better me

EmJha, When you say fasting do you mean no eating? I remeber once drinking only protein drinks and my DH said that wasn't really fasting. (It sure felt like it to me)

In some Christian traditions, they define fasting as adhering to a certain diet, or by abstaining from certain things. It varies quite a bit, but as an example, in the Eastern Orthodox church, during this time, they abstain from meat and dairy products (usually including eggs, too), fish, wine, and oil, and they refer to it as a fast. It's very strict.

I study theology in my spare time.

In the Catholic Church, we are required to fast on Ash Wednesday. For many Catholics today, this means to have one small meal and one regular meal. Of course, traditions vary, and some folks eat nothing or only one meal, etc.

Since I am on this WOE, and in the early stages, I will pray about it and see where God leads me. I am not very hungry on this plan so it might not be a big deal. But if I do get very hungry, I will probably eat so I don't spiral off into the old familiar patterns of starve/binge.

Also, if I do get hungry, that is kind of the point of the fast, which is to be a little uncomfortable in remembrance of He who was very uncomfortable...for us.

My goals are:
1. Give up sweets (no cake or candy)
2. Start back walking
3. Drink only water and no more than one diet pop a week

I've gained and loss since coming home from my cruise but now I'm ready to commit myself to losing and staying on track. Will weigh again tomorrow but I think that's what I weigh since gaining back my weight.

Sargeswife, I really like the idea of giving up sleep aids for lent. I, too, depend on them, and I never thought that there might be a reason for it until I read what you wrore. I would like to do this also, if that's ok.

Absolutely!! I'm glad I could spur that thought for you!!

150 this morning..

Goals during lent:

1. no alcohol of any type.
2. no snacks/desserts of any type
3. Be more patient to everyone around me.

also, I would like to try to fast one day a week with just fluids, not sure if I can keep to it, so not one of my 3 goals...everything else I know with Gods help, I can do.

Ok the scale said 275 this morning so I know where I need to start and that's back to drinking my water which was one of my goals. I have a 33 oz jug in front of me and I'm half way through it so I don't think its going to be too hard. I haven't started running to the bathroom but I know it coming. I figure if I can at least get one jug down before noon then the other one should be no problem. I think I am going to try and give up red meat for lent and try to eat only chicken and fish. I've never done this but I think its worth a try. I woke up this morning ready and excited about today. Usually I'm not happy about getting back on track but today is different. Thanks ladies!
