Default Those Noodles!!!

Hi guys ...I went to the asian market and bought some of those yam/tofu type noodles l(I forgot the name) They are great! I was really surprised to say the least. I was afraid when I saw they came packed in water I thought maybe the would be mushy and to soft(I like Al dente) I have made a vege stir-fry with pork and shrimp (OMG...SO GOOD) I made shrimp alfredo W/the fettacinni noodles and i cant wait to get the other shapes...mac and cheese would be fabulous.I hope this is really low carb b/c it is about the best thing that has came along that I can think of. Even my daughter loves them.

i think the net carbs is like 2 grams for the entire bag....3grams carbs and 2 grams of fiber...can't get better than that.

I just had them last night. I read on another board that if you boil them for 30 minutes, then press the excess water out of them with a paper towel, they lose that odd texture somewhat, and its true! I added meatballs, alfredo sauce and fresh parmesan cheese, and it was AWESOME! 40 calories, 2 net carbs for one bag.

I get them at Whole Foods Market. They are called Shirataki Noodles. There Are two serving per package with 3 carbs per serving and 2 fiber so 1 carb per serving total. I love to eat them in chicken soup...I use canned broth onions, peppers and pepper..a sprinkle of dry parmeasan cheese...Day 2 they are even better as they absorb the flavors! Yum!

I know.....I did notice they are better the next day....this is truly a miricle food for us LCers...I really am glad I found them.I could eat them everyday...if I fix them a little different (different sauces and all) it is just like eating normal the way I used to eat with pasta.....I do have a question though ...do they come in macarroni shape cuz mac and cheese would be the tops....

I think I will eat these every day for the rest of my life...I just found the spaghetti shaped ones, and they are better than the fettucini shaped ones, they are more like real spaghetti. I boiled them for 20 minutes, and did the alfredo and meatballs again....yum!!! Next I will try a tuna noodle casserole, scrummy! It's too good to be true!!!!

shirataki, konjac, konnyaku- by either name they are a blessing to my LC WOE. I just threw some with the beef for my thai beef salad. I found a 12 oz. pkg for $1.50 at KTA and got 3 of them!!!!!

Happy LCing

I buy them at my local health food store. They are very good. I have had them as spaghetti, and with garlic butter on them. They are pretty cheap too, I think I paid $1.99 a bag for them. Not as cheap as real pasta, but still worth it!!

I looked at them last night and they are tofu which I can't eat - nothing with soy for me. Thanks anyway.
