Default The Anchell Diet

The anchell diet is a steak lovers diet. It has been talked about on this site in other threads.
You can eat all the meats with salt and pepper, parika and other sugar less seasoning. You have a medium portion of:

pears
potatoes,
sweet potatoes
grapes
watermelon
bananas
rice
blueberrie
raspberries
grapefruit

These you can have 3 times a day.
Here is an example of my meals

Breakfast 1 banana with green tea
mid morning small hambuger pattie mixed with salt pepper, parika cilantro
lunch 2 pieces of chicken thighs with the skin on cooked on the BBq
with watermelon.
snack if I am hungry any type of meat
dinner rib eye steak with french fries made in a fryer with coconut oil.

This is just one of the many things you can eat.
You can have all the beef, chicken, pork, lamb, fish. turkey, lobster, shrimp.
Making sure you don't use sugar. Many condiments have sugar so this is a no no.

I have done this 8 years ago and it worked, so we, my hubby and me decided to do it again. I have tried many other things, they work for awhile but my hungry gets the best of me. This one keeps my tummy happy and I see results. You can lose anywhere from 5 to 10 pounds your first week and then 6 to 8 pounds a month. I figure the time is going to go by anyway so might as while lose some weight while it does.

Hi Nancymg. I was interested to see what you are eating on Anchell's (really Pennington's diet) and I notice you don't eat meat for breakfast. I thought Anchell said you had to eat meat at every meal? Am I wrong there? Doesn't the watermellon spike your blood sugar when eaten alone? thanks.

Hey Fallsgal,

Yes for breakfast you can have the meat and side or just the side. He mentions that some people's systems can't handle meat early in the morning so having just the side is okay.

You could say that all sides are high carb but on this diet the science is different. For whatever reason having the watermelon or banana for breakfast by itself is okay. I have been doing it this way and my hubby does it this way also and we both are losing.

It is putting aside what other diets says and just use what he says. I found that trying to have it all figured out drives me crazy so I just go with the idea that it works. Lots 50 pounds on it before and I will do it again.

Any other questions I am here to help.

Nancy

Nancy congratulations so far, and good luck! I admit it sure as heck sounds STRANGE to be eating for instance fruits with meat, but heck whatever works for ya!

I am curious though, did you try Atkins or something and found it didn't work as well? It is definitely an interesting diet and I'm wondering how you came across it, and decided ultimately to try it.

Jenn,

I have tried Atkins but for me it allows to many other things and I eat more than I should. I get tried of measuring things also.

I found Anchell from a newsletter that I received in the mail back in 1997. I got the back in Jan of 1998 and thought what the heck, nothings else seems to work. Both my hubby and I lost 50 pounds each. I took 8 years to put back 40 of them and I am back to do it again. I am here to support anyone else who wants to give it a try..

Foxgluvs,

For Potatoes I look at the different sizes and small I dont pick and too large I dont pick. So I go for the one that are in between but not too wide. Since my hubby and I are both doing it I find 2 potatoes about the same size cut them up and fry them in my fryer and divide them between us.
Same with rice I make a cup of rice with 2 cups of water and that makes 4 servings. I fry the rice in butter and add spices.

Nancy

What is so great about pears, potatoes, sweet potatoes, grapes, bananas & rice that puts them on this short list of allowed carbs? They are the carbs that I always find myself craving more of.

Dr. Anchell has done reseach that shows these are amoung the only carbs that do not produce pyruvic acid, which causes fat storage in an otherwise hi fat diet.

Which is what makes this diet so great! You can have the thing that you normally crave on other diets.
To me it is nice after having a dinner of a good steak and mash potatoes or french fries, to say. These diets... cuz it was a good dinner and it helps me lose the weight.

I love salad & veggies, so that is not a problem, but when I eat more than ~50 carbs/day I start feeling hungry more often and craving more carbs.
