Unhappy Constipation???!!!

I know this is not a very appealing topic. I have been on LC now for almost three weeks. I am loosing weight, I lost about 12-13 lbs in the first two weeks. I have recently put on a few pounds back and have not been cheating. I have not been using the bathroom regularly. It is very uncomfortable. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have been drinking a ton of water, eating veggies, and I read that taking flax seed helps. I have been doing that for a couple of days with no real relief. Has anyone else had this problem. What should I do?

If you can tolerate wheat.....I always use wheat bran in a recipe. It is very low carb and does wonders to keep you regular. I get mine at GNC $1.28 per lb. Bob's Red Mill.

I don't think so, I think that is what I am going to end up having to do. I just don't want to have to use all the time.

Try MOM - its gentle. Whole flax seed that has been ground works. I add it to my protein shake. Wheat bran is also good as Kevinpa suggested..

Are you using whole flax seeds or meal. I've heard the meal works better (I know it works for me.)

I buy the whole flax seed, then use a coffee grinder to grind it up.

Default Olive oil does the job

Hi there,

from my previous experience with Atkins, i rmember well that a soupspoon of extra virgin olive oil helps a lot.

Give it a try for a couple of days you will see by yourself. Additionally, it is full of really good amino acids and stuff.

Thanks for all of the great advice, I have the Meal Flax Seed that is already ground. How much should I take for a problem like this? Should I take more than it says for serving size?

I had not heard of the EVO before, it this does not eventually help, I will try that. I am not a big EVO fan, so it might be hard. Is this a common problem for people and if so did it eventually clear up, or do you have this problem the whole time on LC? Thank you so very much for all of the advice. Hope everyone has a great LC weekend.

You can try "Colace" as well. It takes a few days, but will help things along.

I find that a handful of almonds a day helps me alot! ( Just count those carbs! )

I did go buy Flax seed today though and plan on giving that a try!

Colace is in the laxative section of the pharmacy. It is actually a stool softener and works by softening the stool as opposed to stimulating the bowel.
It can take 3 days or so to work and you want to make sure you are getting plenty of water in.

You can also try the metamucil capsules for added fiber. Yes they have carbs, but you can subtract the fiber so it is almost a wash.

I swear by a handful of nuts a day!

Psyllium Husks from Trader Joes
in the 12 oz can work well. I use
them in my Protein shakes and
have NO problems. AND they are
very low calorie too, and NO CARBS.

I too have been concerned about getting enough fiber. My boss at work (who lost over 60 lbs on Atkins last year) has a COSTCO membership and bought an extra tub of Sugar Free Orange Flavored Citrucel for me! He says he uses it every day and it helps with regularity. I'd like to know if anyone else uses this and if it is effective. (I just started it this morning) I believe that Citrucel contains Psyllium Husk if I'm not mistaken which is what NedGoudy recommended? thanks for any feedback!
