Hey guys
As someone who has stayed at the Orleans I thought I'd forward some "things to think about" so you can plan appropriately
1. If there is a big enough group of you, you might want to think about renting some cars. There is a shuttle from the Orleans to the Strip but depending on the time of day, it can be hard to get on. And it only holds about 20 people.
And there is literally ONE shuttle from the Orleans to the Strip, so if you miss it, you have to wait for it to go round trip
2. The Orleans is a mile away from the Strip, as such we figured we'd be able to walk in if we wanted to (I'm a marathon runner so I'm not averse to walking!) However, this really isn't an option as they are very busy streets and it can be dangeous walking beside them. Also, the area between the Strip and the Orleans is a little seedy. Don't plan on walking in!
3. If you do take the shuttle, it can be faster to grab the shuttle to the Gold Coast (which is next to the Rio and 1/2 mile off the strip) and wait for the Gold Coast/Strip shuttle. Both of those trips are shorter than Orleans-Strip so a lot of times it is faster than waiting for the direct Orleans shuttle
4. As I've stated before, the Orleans buffet is not very good. The Rio has two excellent buffets, one of which is a seafood one that you can probably find a $10 coupon for (which would still make it expensive - its $35 regular) - but its INCREDIBLE. The Prime Rib Loft in the Orleans is pretty decent, and is a great price
5. Bring running shoes to walk around it. Throw style out the window for comfort, you will do a lot of walking!
6. The Orleans pool closes at 6pm daily
Hmm, I think thats all I can remember for now! Hope you guys have a good time, and hopefully some of these tips help
