Sexyanorexic dot com!?
About 2 nights ago on THE INSIDER they featured a story about websites, particularly SEXY ANOREXIC dot COM that glorify anorexia and bulemia and even give teenage girls tips on how to hide this horrible disorder form their parents and others (ie. purge in the shower where the water will cover any sounds...) It was a very disturbing piece, and the photos and videos of these girls and women are reminiscent of concetration camp images. These women were literally skin and bones and one video of a woman flexking her "muscles" actually showed that she had almost no muscle at all. I was amazed that these women were still alive. I was just wondering if anyone else saw this. It made me sad.

I remember seeing a preview for this early last evening but then forgot to watch it. It is probably just as well. I have a very weak stomach and don't know if I would have been able to look at the images.
Sad world we live in anymore if these types of things are being encouraged instead of discouraged. : (

yeah, now that you mention it, I think that site is a fetish site, but they mentioned the availability of this kind of encouraging information in the story. Very sickening.

I wouldn't call it a fetish site... they had a story about these sites on Detroit TV months ago.
Unfortunately there are many women (and men) out there who use these sites and chat rooms to share ideas on how to lose weight. It is a illness, just as we would call alcoholism an illness. It is sad that there are sites that encourage this... but it certainly isn't a fetish. Some women (and men) think that type of skinnyness is beautiful.

I disagree, I think it IS a sexual fetish along with such odd fetishes as urination and defication on or by your partner. I am not saying that the people who suffer from this illness consider it a fetish, but the people who are sexually aroused by this kind of unhealthy image DO have a fetish.

The people that post there aren't there for fetish reasons... I can't say much about others who might go there to see photos and think that's it's "sexy" to be that skinny....
Question (that I ponder often).... do you think this relates back to how society idolizes the "perfect" body? how models and skinny hollywood types are idealized?
Unfortunately....i must agree that this is most likely not a fetish. I have a pretty good friend who lives up north....who struggles day in and day out to look like that. Its her goal. Like it or not...some people really think that they should look like that. But i do agree...whoever encourages that degree of sickness..(i really believe those girls have an illness that needs some attention) does have some issues....i dunno if i'd call it a fetish..i mean...we dont call guys who like heavy girls men with fetishes.....but yes...that site was a bit unnerving.

Strictly speaking, no, it's not a fetish
A fetish, in the sexual sense, involves sexual excitement in response to an inanimate object or isolated body part. Shoes, for example. Suspect some wardrobes... but not entire people.
