Default Dairy Liars Get Told Off

From: "Robert Cohen" <notmilk~...> Date: Fri May 27, 2005

Congrats to Notmilk Reader (& Writer)

On April 19, 2005, after reading a bit of dairy industry
propaganda (Hoard's Dairyman had reported, "A strictly
vegetarian diet harms children's growth."), I posted
this column:

<http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/notmilk/message/1991 >

One Notmilk reader, Ann Mallon, wrote a letter of protest to
the editor of Hoard's. I was pleased to see the following on
page 374 of the May 25, 2005 issue of the National Dairy
Farm Magazine:

"The Vegetarian Side

Please check your sources before you make such a report as you
did (April 10 issue, page 255) saying vegan children are
unhealthy. Meat is a multi-business industry, and this was
taken advantage to disseminate propaganda.

Your claims are complete rubbish. I am a nutritionist and a
vegan and previously was unhealthy eating a meat diet. I also
was anemic. Plant foods are what nature intended for us, not
carcasses.

Meat is such big dollars, and that's why it exists today. The
companies want to frigthen vegans off by implanting their evil
lies. That lie now exists as justification for meat producers
to condemn a plant-based diet as being unhealthy. One molehill
of propaganda has grown into a mountain of misunderstanding."

Ann Mallon

Thanks, Ann! Great letter. :>)

Actually, a strictly vegetarian diet does do harm to
children's growth. One letter to the editor does not change
that reality.

The nutritionist is a child? The topic was children and anyone
raising a child on a vegan diet should be put in jail. The
Nomilk people align themselves with sick idiots mentally and
physically.

Did you get a day pass?

Suggesting putrifying flesh and lactation fluids from diseased
animals is proper nutrition for children is criminal insanity.

Anyone who makes statements about what "nature intended" is a
goofball. Nature is not a conscious entity.

Anyone who can't see that humans are clearly omnivores is an
idiot and need not be taken seriously.

I think meat existed before there were dollars.

It doesn't have to be unhealthy, but for vegans, getting
enough B12 is more work.
