Lightbulb Dreamfields Beef Noodle Hamburger Helper

I made this tonight because hubby was missing the box stuff. I had no idea what the ingredients were in the original, so I winged it! Hubby liked it, thats all that matters to me!

Dreamfields Beef Noodle Hamburger Helper

1 lb. ground round
salt and pepper to taste
Brown burger in 10 inch deep sided skillet, drain off excess fat if any.

Add to meat in skillet:
2 c. beef broth (or 3 bouillion cubes and 2c. water, nuke till dissolved)
1 1/2 c. Dreamfields elbow macaroni (uncooked)
pinch each of garlic powder, celery salt, parsley
1 t. dried minced onion

Bring to boil, then reduce heat to simmer, cover and cook 10 minutes
or until macaroni is done.

Mix together:
1/2 c. cold water and 1t. cornstarch
add to skillet and stir quickly to blend in, cook uncovered till heated thru
and thickened to desired consistency. Serve.

I know the cornstarch is a no-no but I have not been willing to buy those expensive low carb thickening products. I suppose adding a bit of heavy cream instead of the water and cornstarch would do as well, but hubby likes the clear gel type sauce. I am not sure of the carb count, but this could easily serve 4 so it should be low. I served it with a salad and green beans. Carb Smart Ice cream bar for dessert, easy night for me in the kitchen!

A lot of people have noticed that Dreamfield's has been disappearing from their local Walmart shelves. Our Walmart still has it. I've also found certain Kroger's do too. You can buy it online at www24.netrition.com.
