Kazaa,

Hi! Yes, I have had success with the Fat Flush Plan and so have many others on this site. CSoar is a moderator for their forum and is a frequent (daily visitor) here. Check out her journal or mine. The FFP website is www.fatflush.com. It has lots of useful information, testimonials and FAQ site.

I lost most of my weight on Atkins and dropped 55lbs within 6 months. Then I stalled. Charli (CSoar) introduced me to the FFP to break my stall, but I liked it so much I've stayed.

The basic concept is to detoxify your body. One drinks 64oz of diluted unsweetened cranberry juice throughout the day of P1 along with hot lemon water in the early morn and a LLC (Long Life Cocktail) consisting of the cranwater and psyllium husks. One omits dairy, caffeine, sugar, wheat, salt and alcohol from the diet. Lean meats and lots of veggies (unlimited) are crucial. Exercise is limited to 20 to 30 minutes of moderate exercise in P1. The cranwater aids in the elimination of cellulite along with the omission of dairy from the diet.

My overall experience has been good. I have lost about 10lbs since September, but lots and lots of inches! Initially I was a size 12 loose, or snug 10 when I quit Atkins. Yet, having only lost 10lbs on FFP I am wearing a 6 or 8 now and have lost in all the places I needed to (hips, thighs and tummy). It has reshaped my body in a short period of time. I would recommend it. I don't miss the dairy either much. Another physical change that occurred for me is that my skin is very clear and even, not blotchy anymore and I stopped shedding hair! My hair is gleaming and the cellulite is disappearing. Also, no more dark circles under my eyes. This plan works with the lymphatic drainage system of our bodies to expel toxins.

I hope this helped some. I'm not an expert, I just know what works for me. Good luck!

Has anyone doing this made their own cranberry juice ? I'm having a problem finding Pure unsweetened cranberry juice - I thought I found one, but it turns out it also has some grape and some apple juice in it. Any Canadians ever found it anywhere???

I saw it at Bulk Barn recently, Koko. But when I did FF, I made my own. It was cheaper.

My opinion of Fat Flush is neutral. It works, but I disagree with a lot of what ALG says in the book. It's supported rather weakly, and I honestly believe that the only reason you lose weight on it is because it's low cal, low fat, low protein, fairly low carb, and whole foods. I was adding stuff in that I wasn't supposed to have and I still came in barely at 1300-1400 calories.

It's good if you're really stalled out and you're at you wit's end, or if you sort of want to do the 'cleansing' thing and give yourself a break from artificial sweeteners, booze, caffeine, etc.

Thats basicly my thoughts on the FFP as well. I was on it for a time, and did lose some, but I felt weak and ill for the whole time. I found sticking to the low calorie count was difficult. That said I have a few good friends that still swear by it, so I am not entirely against it.

The low calorie count has me worried, too. I wanted to try it but I have a terrible fear of being hungry. Silly, I know but I am diabetic and it's dangerous if my sugars get too low. That said, I think her approach to eating all organic and whole foods is wonderful - just not real practical in today's world. You have to really want to do and be willing to take the extra time and $$$ to search out these things.

KoKo,

I have the book (page 55)and it says the following:

Put a 12oz bag of cranberries into a large saucepan. Add about 4 cups of purified water, and boil until all the berries pop. Strain the juice, and if you like, you can add a touch of Stevia Plus to take the edge off the tartness (brave souls can take it straight). This recipe makes about 32oz of straight cranberry juice, enough for about 4 days.

The ratio to dilute is 4 oz of unsweetened cranberry juice to 28 oz of water. You need two pitchers of this to total the 64oz daily requirement.

Hope this helps~

Not exactly on topic, but I boiled cranberries for the first time over christmas and I had no idea they'd pop like that! It was so much fun!

Now, around here I don't think you can buy cranberries except from Nov-Dec.

Most places in the "off season" (not around thanksgiving or christmas etc), have cranberries stocked in the freezer section.

Thanks SO Much Bizzy,

I have a lot of cranberries in the freezer and just tried making some juice by pulverizing them to death in the food processor and then adding some water and cooking them and pressing them (I found that method at the forum you linked us to earlier) - I tasted it and it doesn't taste BAD so I'm thinking it's not strong enough. Your method sounds like it would work better and I'll try that next.

and thanks Kristine, I think we have some bulk barns around here and if I decide to continue will check it out.

After I posted that somewhat negative reply, I felt bad. My only excuse is that my blood sugars really were very low, which causes me to feel negative. Actually I am going to do the FFP. The difference is, I'm easing into the two week Phase 1. In her book, ALG suggests weaning yourself off things before starting. Right now I'm working on caffiene and fried foods. Then, in another week or so, I am really going to give it a heartfelt try. I like the idea of cleansing my liver, especially at my age (48). Our resident expert is csoar2004. If you have questions, you can visit her journal and she is always ready and willing to help you out.

On pages 43 -44 of her book, ALG says, "The week before you begin phase 1 is the best tiem to prepare your system for the FFP. Probably one of the most important preparations is to begin increasing your water intake between meals. Begin drinking at least two glasses between breakfast and lunch and two more between lunch and dinner. This will start increasing your hydration and acreate the new habit of powere drinking to get more water into your system. After you feel confident that your hydration levels are increasing, begin to banish all transfats from margarine, fried foods, adn processed vegetable oils. Next, eliminate all of the whites from your diet: white sugar, white rice and white flour. Stock up instead on lots of fiber-rich vegetables in all colors of the rainbow...
By far the most important thing you can do to prepare your system for the plan is gradually taper off all alcohol, coffee, tea, colas, and soft drinks. This includes any regular or decaf or aspartame sweetened beverages."

That's what I'm working on this week and next week. It always did take me longer to learn my lessons than others - that's why a two week preparation period rather than one.
