Hi,

Although I'm new to this forum I'm not new to a low carb lifestyle.

For years I worked to find a WOE that worked best for me. In '88, at 165+ lbs I was an active weight lifer, bike rider and swimmer. That year I started getting sick, my weight started to climb and I no longer had the stamina to train with weights.

In '90, after training all summer for a long distance bike ride, I got really sick.(see http://dstartz.com/MyStory.htm for more info.) In '91 I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis; in '95 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. With the ensuing treatment and quest for the proper titration of replacement meds my weight ballooned to 250.

In 2002 I found Somersizing and finally started to lose some weight. After a year of this WOE and losing 30 lbs the weight loss stopped. In the summer 2003 I started Atkins, and even with undergoing surgery which caused incredible blood chemistry changes, I managed to lose another 30 lbs in only a few short months.

In early 2003 the manufacturer of one of my replacement meds changed their process and their meds no longer worked for me. After a year of trying new brands and new levels, and regaining 25 lbs, I think I my meds are finally stable enough to try to start losing weight again.

The taste of the svelter body I had early last year is still sweet in my mouth. This year I will turn 50 and I plan to meet that passage with not only that taste in my mouth, but also the look in the mirror. ;->

Hi dstartz:

I just saw your post in the Thyroid section. I just read your story. Wow!Unfortunately, it's a far too common story, eh? I'm glad things are starting to finally go your way.

Anyway, just want to welcome you.

Thank you for the welcome, y'all!

I took your suggestions and started a journal. I am amazed to have already learned 2 very important pieces of information/wisdom in less than a week of writing in it.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Tonight we moved the treadmill back into the livingroom.

I did 5 minutes warming up and 5 cooling down; 2 complete turns faster for 10 minutes.
