I've done the same thing as Nicole. I tend to sabotage myself and try to make others feel miserable because of how I feel about myself. I have started fights or arguments, I think, just to take the focus off of my weight?? It's sad, but true, and time for a change!!

My dbf has also mentioned confidence as being a big turn on!

Maybe the "take home message" is to be confident that you (and I mean "me") are taking the necessary steps to regain your own health. Take responsibility for your own actions and ask others to respect your boundaries. If a spouse undermines you or insults you, then calmly hold to your plan and label the insult as not helpful.

Sometimes my spouse seems to be almost cowered in the corner trying not to say the wrong thing. (Of course at other times, he is in my face and totally saying the wrong thing to help.) Possibly he just cannot help me with this problem.

Good thing that the forum can offer whatever support is needed and not possible from a spouse. Also, the issue of self respect and confidence is important. A wider base of support helps with that too.

Thanks again,

I do sabotage myself (Lord only knows why and I need to figure that one out) but I don't try to make others feel miserable or start fights. What I have done is have such a negative attitude toward my own weight/appearance that my lack of confidence and embarassment upsets and frustrates my husband. I know I would hate it if my husband said about himself the things that I have said about myself so I don't blame him for being upset. Also, uhhhh, it has it's effects in the bedroom, right??? I am feeling a lot better about myself now that I'm working on it and making progress (notice new stats below??? ).

Nicole
