Hello! I've been reading some interesting threads/polls on the hair loss question, but I thought I would respond here. (You may want to check out the following: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthre...light=hair+loss)
I can't remember experiencing a problem with hair loss the last time I followed the Atkins plan (almost a year ago). But I recommitted to the low-carb lifestyle in mid-April of this year. Now, about two months into this way of eating, I'm noticing a lot more strands of hair--in my bathtub, comb, and brush--than I'm used to seeing. My hair is already thin and fine, so I don't like the idea of losing any more of it. On the other hand, my hair does seem to be growing longer and more quickly now, and I can see new growth at the hairline. And my hair is softer and shinier, too.
Another interesting note: my eyelashes (which have always been thin and rather sparse) are really starting to grow long and fill in. My fingernails are growing quickly now, too, and have never been stronger. I'm naturally consuming more protein following this eating plan, and I've added hair vitamins to my daily supplements, so I'm starting to see some positive results.
Blessings, Anicka65
