....just popping in to keep this thread going until it's "time."

Allibaba where are you? I'm a 76 min train ride (MTA), in Cold Spring NY.

So... Anyone have some ideas for a fun place/activity/whatever?

Meg

I would love to. I am 15 minutes from the city and go there often. I can also look around and see if I can find some fun things to do.

June would probably be better since it would give more time to plan (but its tooooo hot!!!) and it gives me time to lose more weight lol. Any month is great for me.

As long as it's a weekend, I'm good. May, June, July ... whatever.

Sundays are better than Saturdays for me.

I agree! This summer works for me! Certain weekends are bad but I think it would be good to start throwing actual dates out there so we can plan!

Well, being born and bred in NYC I can safely say that I have no idea what a group of low carbers would like to do here hanging out and we also need to take cost into consideration.

We all probably have different interests. Eating, would you rather go to a restaurant or everyone bring a dish and have a picnic-type lunch at a park?

You can check out www.villagevoice.com which will list some local events. http://www.nycvisit.com/memberSearc...cfm?pagePkey=12 Has a large listing of things to do as does http://www.cityguidemagazine.com/nycevents1.html

http://newyork.craigslist.org/ Has an events section, though I am not sure the events listed there are the type of stuff you guys would be into.

Also http://www.centralparknyc.org/ has lists of events going on in the park

http://www.chelseapiers.com/

http://www.trapezeschool.com/ - sounds interesting

http://www.nybg.org/

http://www.bronxzoo.com/

http://www.amnh.org/

http://www.thecopacabana.com/

I suppose once we figure what we are going to do it would be easier to pick a date. What do you guys like?

hey guys! Just an idea to throw into the pot, I'm not pushing for it or anything....as NYC may be the more convenient place. However... I live in the Hudson Valley - an hour's train ride north of NYC on the MTA. There are some gorgeous hikes around here, excellent restaurants (it's a tourist town, Cold Spring NY) and some fields for playing things like frisbee or Aerobee - like a frisbee only better

The French restaurant is particularly good (although I'm all for potluck picnics as well), and they seem to be naturally more low carb than other restaurants. eg: when I ordered lamb the dish came with spinach and a tomato roasted with garlic - no starch.

Anyone else in the mood for being active?

I really like the idea of a picnic/active/potluck kind of day. Even if people can't make it the extra hour, we could find a place in the city no doubt. I am in either way. Great thinking Meg!
