Default Food dreams

I've been having the funniest (?) dreams. Day before yesterday, I had a dream about making a jam cake and only eating a little sliver. Then last night I had a long dream about a blueberry pie Geez...I've been on Atkins for about 3 weeks and don't have any cravings during the day and I've never cheated...so the dreams are kind of a surprise. I guess I was more addicted than I thought Anyone else having food dreams?

I remember the first month I was on Atkins, and having those dreams. Mine went away. The fun part was waking up and realizing there was no reason to be panicked about having just eaten a week's worth of carbs.

It's funny you mentioned that...when I woke up from the first one, I had anxiety because I thought I'd actually eaten it! *sigh* Man, they really aren't kidding about being addicted!

I used to have dreams about food all the time...and then wake up like you, Zymi, worried that I'd actually "eaten" the bad food...and ruined my diet!

The last few years I haven't had any such food dreams....and, while I'm not sure why....I can speculate .. sometime in my life I changed my thinking about diets in general. I stopped telling myself that I can't have this...I can't have that....and feeling deprived ...I started saying..."I can have this if I really want to....but I don't WANT to eat it. Maybe sometime I will....a diet isn't always forever.....it's not that I can't eat it....I just don't WANT to eat it....I can really do without it....today I don't need it..."

In essence, I think that type of thinking might have made me believe that if I cheated..or failed once, my diet wasn't ruined forever.....and I could pick up the pieces and move on. Once I got past that hurdle.....no more food dreams. Strange...isn't it?

I had one dream about food - and it was strange. I was at a party and went to the sink to get a glass of water and there was a plate full of chocolate turtles...and I got so frustrated that I thought I'd have a cup of flavored decaf coffee as a "treat" and when I tried to pour the creamer into my coffee it was squirting out of the container all over the place. So I put my decaf down and left the party. I never actually indulged - I kept thinking to myself in the dream that I can't have these treats because of Atkins.

And that was in the first week of Atkins - I haven't had any dreams since. Daydreams...well that's a whole different story!!

So what does it mean if you can't remember dreams at all? About every two years I wake up from a really strange dream but other than that I NEVER remember dreams!

The only time people remember dreams is if they wake up during one. Usually to go to the bathroom. You dream constantly all night because your brain never rests.
