Default Hot tea - appetite suppressant?

One thing I've noticed recently is that as I get older, and as I lose weight to levels below what I weighed in high school, is that I'm cold. I'm cold a lot. It isn't severe, but it's there. I've been drinking Earl Grey hot tea for a while, and find it amazingly pleasant and soothing when there is a cold or sore throat. I drink at least one cup every day, sometimes as many as three. If I feel cold, I drink it in preference to coffee or sugar free hot chocolate.

But what I've started to notice is that it seems to be an excellent curb on my appetite. I have a cup and I feel very full for an hour or two thereafter.

Anyone else had an experience like this with hot tea? I have not really had the same results with other teas (and haven't tried many), but Earl Grey seems to do it for me.

I'm not really sure whether hot tea is an appetite suppressant or not, but I do know that it has become my nightly ritual after the little one is in bed. I make myself a hot cup of peppermint tea and it does relax and fill me up and just plain makes me feel good! I say whatever works..do it!

hmmmmm, this sounds like something to try, esp. at night. I'm actually not hungry, but I just want to eat out of habit.
I also get very cold in the evening, so I've been looking around for something to warm me up too. The cold fingers and toes are driving me crazy, my husband too, he hates it when I put my cold feet on him in bed to warm them up!
Tea sounds like a good idea, appetite suppressant or not!

Hot tea has always been an appetite suppressant for me. I drink at least a pot of green tea every morning and through the day I drink chai and chamomile tea. This is in addition to the gallon of plain water I drink! I slosh when I walk!

Sunny!

A cup of tea is my 'comfort food' and comfort foods satisfy your appetite.
Way better choice then what I considered comfort food before Low Carbing ...

I drink a combination of different loose tea's. My favorite that I drink throughout my day is Organic American Saffron Tea http://www.baar.com/Merchant2/merch...&Category_Code=.

I'm allergic to artificial sweeteners including Splenda and find natural tea's to be a great substitute to 'sugar free' items.

I use to drink green tea by the gallons but recently found out it was the cause for my monthly cramping and heavy menstrual cycles but otherwise Green Tea is excellent as appetite suppressant and gives a long list of healthy benefits for both men and women.

I just tried "orange chocolate chip" black tea and was pleasantly surprised - it is pretty good! Nice alternative to SF hot chocolate for me.
I have always felt that hot liquids make for good appetite suppressants, soup, coffee, tea all seem to offer more satisfaction than their colder counterparts.
