Default LC and your skin

Hi,

This is my fifth week on Atkins and I've noticed a lot of benefits to my health thusfar - weight loss, more energy, less sleep, etc...but, the most surprising has been how my skin has improved! I have combination skin - acne is some spots and very dry skin in others. I have noticed a considerable decrease in the occurance of acne, as well as an increase in moisture in my skin. I also used to have dry scalp which is gone now, too.

I'm curious - is this a result of the LC or is it because I have been drinking more water, or is it a combo of both? Has anyone else experienced this too?

thanks in advance

A big YES! I have acne, too, and it's *way* better as long as I remain LC. The more I'm off the wagon, the worse it gets. I figure it's because of better overall hormone control - insulin plays a big part in it. I think it's also because you're not feeding the bacteria so much sugar!

Here's a link to a recent discussion on acne and refined carbs in the media/research forum.

Ditto here. I think for myself, I'm eating alot less processed foods (which always seem to make me break out), not to mention lowcarb ones, and that helps alot. Plus the gallons of water don't hurt either.
