Default Zero Carb - The Thread

Chapter 2 of the lifestyle of Zero Carbers...
This is a place where we can discuss what ZC has done for your health, your living situation, you family, your friends... but mostly I think it would be a great positive place for you to talk about what ZC has done for you....

The old thread hit over 2,000 pretty quick. It's also been viewed over 58,000 times!! Wow, that surprised me, I think last time I looked at that number it was still under 20,000.

Time to get off of here and cook up some KC strip.

This is from the previous thread

I have a question for you and the other longterm ZCers here. How long did it take for you to get keto-adapted? I've been ZC for three weeks now and I am really dragged out and exhausted after any type of exertion. Ex - I went Christmas shopping this morning and after only one hour I felt like I would die if I didn't lie down soon! I dragged myself and my shopping bags to my car and came home.

I've read it takes anywhere from one to six weeks. Lordy, I hope this doesn't last three more weeks - I have a lot to do this month!

were you LC before you went ZC? If not, you may be losing alot of water/electrolytes. I found I needed a little potassium to get me thru that "exhausted" feeling. It should regulate itself pretty quickly

I posted this in my journal but thought you all would appreciate the information.

After spending most of yesterday and today (at work) reading about zero carb....and nearly two months of not being able to be successful for any length of time on any other LC plan...I have decided to start ZC tomorrow.

Wish me luck and send me whatever info about the plan you think may be helpful.

Hi! Can I ask you ZC'ers a question? I am very intrigued by ZC but I'm a bit concerned to go carnivore right now because I'm lactating.

It makes sense to me that the Inuit women nursed their young on a mostly-meat diet, so it should be safe, but everything I read tells you not to go VLC while nursing. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?

Thanks

No, I wasn't doing LC at the time. I'd been eating junk for a few weeks. Thanks for the potassium tip.

Burbuja,

Just wanted to let you know that I was super duper very low carb during both times I was nursing.

And, whilst nursing, I was never EVER hungry. Was lucky to eat 500 cals a day.

My supply was FINE as long as I drank a buttload of water.

Inside or out, the baby will steal what it needs from you and your boobs will do whatever they have to to get what THEY need as well.

However, if you're dehydrated, you'll dry up like a dried cranberry.

So basically, eat what you want but keep the water supply jammin'!

Julia
