Default TSP and Artificial Sweeteners

Hi all,
I'm reading TSP (the first book) right now and I'm seriously considering trying this plan. I'm a vegetarian and I love that Dr. S is one of the few who addresses vegetarianism and even includes sample menus.

I did have a question, though. I know that Dr. S was completely against artificial sweeteners of any kind, even the more natural ones, in the first book but I heard that in the more recent books, she is a bit more lenient with these. Mainly, I heard she allows stevia and xylitol in small amounts. Is this true?

Thanks!
Tam

If you aren't vegan I would suggest buying The schwarzbein principle vegetarian cookbook. So far every recipe I have tried from it has been wonderful.

If you can get pure stevia or liquid stevia even better. Packet stevia has carrier chemicals like maltodextrin which is another form of sugar. Not bad at roughly 1 g per packet for packet stevia but just be aware of the carb content in packet stevia.

Sstevia is really good, but for me, only prefer it in hot drinks. Not in iced tea.

I like xylitol much better than stevia. I don't notice the aftertaste. Anyone else use xylitol? I am reading Dr. Schwarzbein II right now and she lists Xylitol in the "do not use" list. When did she change her mind?
