Post SBD and running?

Hello! First, a little background: started the SBD about 2 weeks ago because of a quite annoying plateau with my weight. I had been trying to lose 10-15 lbs for about 3 months with no results. I'm now moving to Phase 2, and have lost about 5 lbs. While that doesn't sound like much, it's about 33% of what I aim to lose (very happy about that!).

My question is about having a very active lifestyle and eating within SBD. I run nearly every day, and am finding it quite hard to have enough energy during some of my workouts. I generally run 3-7 miles/day, 5-6 days a week. Sometimes a long run of 13 mi is thrown in. My legs feel dead without their normal glycogen stores!!

While I am extremely happy that I am finally over this plateau, I'm wondering about adding in more than the suggested carbs. I would love to still lose these last 10, and I realize that doing so may hamper my success.... Does anyone have suggestions?

?

Hi and welcome!
Congrats on your success to date!!
How far have you gone into adding good carbs in your phase II?
In other words, how many fruits and starches are you eating daily now?
I need to know this so that I can give you good feedback.

I agree.

Also, can you use your allowed carbs to be "spent" before you workout? For example, if you are eating a cup of yogurt with a serving of fruit, I'd eat it an hr before my run, rather than add carbs before my run and eat the yogurt/fruit for dessert or whatever. KWIM?

When you are running that kind of distance be careful that you are not having a cortisol response which can cause weight loss plateaus and gain.

Cortisol response can happen particularly after the long runs (longer the 1 and 1/2 hours).
