I took a forced rest day today because I woke up with the worst sore throat, and just couldn't face it. I just worry if I rest too long, I won't go back to it, you know? If I'm still sick tomorrow, though, I'll get at least the 1-mile in. I can do 15 minutes.

My metabolism is so messed up (like many here, I'm sure) that I'm afraid that without walking, my weight loss will come to a standstill (or worse - reverse!) so I'm probably more cautious than I need to be. I appreciate the advice; you made me feel less awful about resting this morning

Good! I'm glad you rested when you felt 'off'. Currently I'm resting a LOT in the sense that I haven't been to the gym because of some crazy things in my life. However I'm eating high fat ratios and still losing. I do believe in exercise very much so and I'm happy to see what you're doing. But as I said, rest is important for the body to rebuild and be able to handle even more. And when you work out often enough your metabolism will stay strong. It's especially important to rest when you don't feel well, so what you did today was really good. I try to give myself no more than 2 days off in a row from some kind of exercise. It keeps me from getting out of the habit, like you said. Take care, feel better and keep up the good work!

Thanks... I'm actually down a pound for the first day in two weeks. Whether they're related or not, I don't know. I was due anyway, because I'd lost a bunch of inches but no weight, so I figured some water was getting ready to drop off, but it's hard to tell sometimes. I think I'm taking another day off today, at least this morning, because my throat is still killing me and my digestive system is all wacky. We'll see how I'm feeling later. I hate being sick!

I definitely felt less energy yesterday, though, having not walked in the morning. It really did make a difference.

Thanks again for the support. It really does make a difference. I'm one who would beat myself up for "failing" because I missed a day, then spiral downward from there. It's good to hear I did the right thing!

Has anyone tried her Walk and Kick video? It very much worked me out harder than anything else I've done of hers.

I don't do the Walk Away Pounds video, but I am a former runner turned walker.

I think walking is a great way to get in shape. It works the big muscles, which in turn helps you burn more fat.

I just found this thread. Boy, I'm glad that I did. My friend turned my on to WATP a few weeks ago. I love Leslie. She makes the workouts go so fast! I've been alternating between the 2, 3, & 5 mile walks for the last week. I really want to try out her walk jog workout too.

Last night I did WATP walk strong and it was awesome!! This one combines intervals of weights and walking. I got a really good sweat even when I wasn't walking. If you don't have this, I HIGHLY recommend adding it to your collection.

Awww thanks Jodie. I've been having a blast the past few days. Last week I was focused on my treadmill, I like to switch up to keep things interesting.
I love the ticker.
