Default Z-Carb Bars Nutrition Labels

Just got this email...

Turns out many of the bars have the incorrect labels- still zero carbs, but protein 3g not 9g, and some other differences. I went to zcarbbar.com and used the info to change my entry in fitday.com.

Subject : RE: nutrition labeling

We apologize, the printers made a very large error in printing on our bars.
The correct information is on our website. We now have all our bars wrapper
with the correct nutritionals but there are still some around that are the
incorrect labels so please see the website. We apologize again for the
inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
Thank you and have a great day!

Ya know, the Z-carb bars taste great but they make me wonder. I've had the almond and macadamia nut bars before, and they still say 0 carbs. Now how can something contain nuts (not to mention all those other ingredients) and contain 0 carbs? I know, serving sizes are adjusted to reflect a low carb count, and all that, but I still don't completely buy the 0 carb thing. I do like them because the sugar alcohol they use is much easier on my stomach than maltitol.

I often wonder about the carbs on them too, but if I am going to eat frankenfoods I often eat the z-carb bars they have less ill effects on my tummy then the others do.

Zcarb bars also don't make me hungry the way some other sweets do- that's why I'm pretty sure I'm not getting carbs from them.

Can you please post all the changes? I still have half a carton left with the wrong wrappers (they're a rare treat). I'd like to update mine in FitDay, too. Thanks!!

For the Almond Bars...Chocolate Liquor, Butter, and Almonds contain Net Carbs. But, the amount of Carbs for the amount used is so small that the numbers can be rounded to get 0g Net. Figuring that perhaps the Fiber number has been rounded up and the Total Carbs rounded down...it would have 1g or less of Net Carbs per Bar. They probably don't use more than a few grams of Almonds in the entire Bar and it takes 7 cups of Butter to get 1g of Carbs. So, the only thing contributing any significant amount of Carbs is the Chocolate Liquor, which even if they made the entire Bar from it would have only 2.75g of Net Carbs. Assuming that each bar has 4g or 8g [I haven't checked the site to confirm which number is correct yet] of Erythritol and 8g of Inulin, even if the rest was pure Chocolate Liquor, it would only have 1.25 to 1.50g of Net Carbs per Bar...even if the rest was pure Chocolate Liquor. But, since it also contains several grams of Cocoa Butter, which is 100% Fat, that figure goes down to 1/2 to 1g of Net Carbs, which if the numbers are rounded in certain ways can be labelled so as to work out to 0g Net.

Go to zcarbbar.com for the proper info- go to the store and click on the item, it will give you the nutritional info.

They still say zero carbs, but I guess to be on the safe side you could round up to one.

They're supposed to be at Wal-Mart and I think Walgreen's, but the only place I've found 'em is 7-Eleven. Usually over where the nutrition bars are.
