Default I made it

OK.. I made it here. Since I hit my goal I decided to take a break and eat whatever I want for two weeks. So.. I've eaten everything from Pasta, rice, and even M&Ms. I'm thinking I would have gain some weight back because of this. Instead I lost more. I don't know what is happening to me. Guess I should be happy... I know it will probably catch up to me so I have stopped eating junk again and will start my maintence eating.

One question I do have is... I've never went above 20 grams since I started.. I don't really want to keep doing this so should I introduce 5 grams more per week now or just start eating at say 50 grams and go from there?

Dave

WTG on hitting goal, Dave!

I'd suggest adding those carbs back slowly and perhaps going back over the section of the book on OWL and Maintenance. You may lose more fat still until you find your CCLL (which I'm sure you know you should have been aiming for long before this !)

Jumping up to 50g suddenly will probably have some nasty side effects - a gradual climb is better. I'm guessing that it will take a while at 5g a week, 10 might be better for you - being male you'll be able to handle more carbs than a female - your CCLL could be as high as 100g.

Silly -

I am much the same size/weight as you (now). I'm also similar in that I'm also not particularly insulin-resistant. Metabolically, I was able to easily lose weight, which Dr. Atkins suggests indicates I was not laboring with an insulin resistance syndrome, but rather fighting an undisciplined me. Achieving my goal weight was a 3 month process, and I did try to slow the loss of last pounds. I added back 5 grams a day more, adjusting the level every 4 days. I got to about 120 g of carbs. After a month of 100 to 120 g, I did notice a shift in my weight to extremely gradual weight gain. I suspect Nat is right that your situation is one that will get your CCLL about 100 grams.

Approach your CCLL carefully, though. I found a slight change in my behavior when I shifted from "I don't eat carbs" to "I eat carbs with control." Sometimes I found myself yielding control, as before. Boy, you'll just have to keep a close eye and try to notice this shift, and treat it as a warning flag.

Also, if you think you look good where you are, then just start thinking of yourself as 190'ish. Are there other things you want to devote your energy to pursuing? Now's your chance. It's a new lease on life.

Congrats on goal!

Play around - keep track of what you are doing - you are now an expert in lowcarbing. Ultimately, the "answer" you are looking for, can't be found here, it will be found in your own personal experience. But when you find it, tell everybody what it is.
