Default How long did it take for your BG to normalize?

Four weeks ago my BG was averaging 250 and 325 after a meal. My doctor put me on meds until I got my diet under control. He said I'd be cutting at least 10 years off my lifespan if I did not take action now and start a low carb diet.

Right now my BG has been averaging 109 taking random samples about 8-10 times a day. It's gone as high as 135 only twice the past week, even after a meal it usually never goes over 125 and even after working in the yard and sweating in the hot sun. Sunday, Sept 3 will mark exactly 4 weeks I have kept my carbs below 20 per day and I plan to start weaning myself off my medications now to see what happens.

Depending on the chart that I look at, an average of 109 is within the "normal" range and my average fasting glucose is about 100, once as low as 89.

Should I expect it to go even lower as time goes on?

What kind of time frame did others have to wait before BG normalized?

Any info on this would be much appreciated.

Well, I did some more searching and did find the results of one study:

It seems that normally the BG continues to gradually decrease for at least 24 weeks on a very low carb ketogenic diet. It makes me wonder how much the meds I started taking 4 weeks ago have contributed to my much more rapid reduction. I guess I'll find out because I start eliminating the meds this week.
