Default % of protein, fat & carbs

I started an account at Fitday.com, and plugged in what I've eaten so far today. It showed that 66% of my calories have come from fat, 28% from protein, and 5% from carbs. Should I be eating more protein than fat? Is it dangerous to eat that much fat? Sometimes it's hard to eat meats without fat, unless you stick with plain chicken breast or tuna. What's the normal ratio between fat & protein on a low carb diet?

hi Wendy,

I regularly consume 65 to 70% of my daily calories from fat. Your protein and carbs look great too. Try to keep your calories at 10 to 12 x your weight. If you find the calories getting too low, consistently below 1200, then use more fat and protein to bring it up. A Tbsp of olive or flax oil will add important fatty acids, and has 120 calories. It's easy to add an extra Tbsp of oil to mix with the salad dressing, or dribble it over your meat and cooked veggies.

Thanks you guys! Good to know I'm in the right range. Except my calories! Yikes, I just realized I'm eating less than half the calories I should be. I have a small appetite and can barely finish my meals as it is, I can't imagine eating more! I will start drizzling oil on salads and meats though, I'm sure that will help. And maybe start munching on brazil or macadamia nuts between meals. Thanks for the suggestions! I finished adding the rest of my food for the day and ended up with 1351 calories, 70% from fat, 25% from protein and 5% from carbs.
